I totally agree, but I don't believe it will happen, and if it does, SE is doing it very wrongly.

As I said in a previous comment, if they want to introduce a new villain, a new character, the time is now. We even have 7.0 to create strong bonds with new characters and make the 7.0 experience deeper. But so far we know Zero (whom I'm sure is here to stay), and Golbez (whose speculation is that he will only last until 7.0). For the rest, we are still with the Sions.

I really expected introductory patches for new airs, but apparently everything is the same. It's worth remembering that Yosh P said that there's a surprise coming (according to what I've read in other threads), so what we have left is to wait and see what they will give us in 7.0

The game is about the WoL and the scions. Has been for 10 years.

They aren't going to completely change the focus just because an arc ended.

They were absent for most of HW and had pretty limited interaction in SB. It's only the last two expansions where the story has been about them.
(They were important to the story but we spent a lot more time with other characters)

I don't really want another scholar in the party unless we bench one of our current actives. The current Varshahn/Estinen/Zero/Yshtola is fun because we've got folks from different walks of life again.

More Krile? Good, she has gotten very little character development in the game, and needs some badly. Hopefully she'll be the only one of the original main (pre-Endwalker) cast with us, we could use some new faces.

Everyone seems to ignore that part where they say "were disbanding!" and in literally the next sentence "at least, officially".

Like, it was never a "were never doing anything as a group ever again" implication.

The problem isn't the people, it's the writers. They wanted to make everything so dramatic, they put more emphasis on the "we're leaving" part, and forgot the "will never change a thing" part.

The thing with this moment is that they could have given the overarching story a rest. Retirement isn't something that these clearly young characters would do, they're drawn to adventure. But their major overarching adventure is over. Their characters have been developped. They've all underwent a change that feels somewhat satisfying. Characters that haven't have been added in too recently, and thus don't have any solid footing in the group yet (G'raha) or have been one-note without being properly explored (Krile).

And this is fine. FF11 would add in new characters for you to meet and group up with, and we honestly have really good candidates from other pieces of content:
- The Garleans and their efforts to rebuild and reform.
- Their former conquered states who've since acted out in rebellion.
- Bozja and Dalmasca, whose story got sidelined at the end.
- Literally where did Ultima the High Seraph even come from?
- Sharlayan becoming a new hub where adventures are given to the Warrior of Light due to there being a more open world without the scions being the major liaison
- The New World and all the stuff that could come out of it
- The First having new adventures (we still don't know what the hell the NieR Raids were about other than giving Yoko Taro his moment)
- Even the newest story of Radz at Hahn and getting us to know a bit more of the rest of the First Brood is a wonderful candidate.
- Including the foray into other Worlds. Would have been great to see more of Cyella, Taynor and Unukalhai than just random figures in a pub

And each of these could add new characters for us to interact with and allow them to become permanent. Again, FF11 did this, it's how we got Prishe and Iroha.

We don't have to "retire" the Scions, but at least give some characters whose arcs are finished a good rest, expand on those who need further expanding, and introduce new ones.
At this rate we're either going to tire the Scions out or we're going to see them become something else completely different.

This is an expansive world with a lot of stuff to explore. We can rely on the former Scions, no one ever said otherwise. They don't need to "die" for there to be anything new. But it's as though we have to constantly deal with Sharlayan kids despite having only set foot in Sharlayan nearly a decade after our adventure began... We could do so much better, but no, let's keep feeding this Sharlayan bias.

I hope the story they picked out turns out good because currently the story isn't really going anywhere and is all about adventures with the didn'tactuallydisband Scions and fooling around with notRydia Zero who will become Zeromus at the end of 6.x.

They had a great thing going with Bozja before they canned it completely. And they've really written themselves into a corner since Garlemald was the big threat the world had and now there is really nothing to oppose.

The story currently has a WoW problem where the WoL is a sidepiece and the main characters are the Scions.

If I have any criticism with the game moving forward they can lay off with the escort quests. I don't think anyone likes them.

I personally liked Krile a lot back in HW never did Eureka and was somewhat disappointed that her character in EW was reduced to "inferiority complex" and a vessel for Hydaelyn to talk through. Excited for her to get more time in the spotlight.

Aw I love Krile, I cant want to see her shine and she has been either pretty serious or like a plot device so it will be nice to see her in some funny moments like Estinien got in Endwalker.

Just going to be real:

The Scions are boring AF. 6.1 was the perfect opportunity for WoL to meet new party members - preferably people who don’t all constantly agree with WoL and have different personalities that can sometimes clash to make things more interesting.

For the love of god, please free my WoL from the damn Scions. Enough is enough.

I like Krile so I'm hyped for this. =) Tbh at this point I'd be happy to spend time with anyone who isn't G'raha and Estinien, I'm so sick of them.
