Obviously those people have never work administration . :PThere were comments done against characters both here and on Reddit. Most of those comments brought up how they felt Minfilia didn't do anything and just sat on the Waking Sands waiting for us to do stuff and then be like "pray return to the waking sands". It even became a meme.
That's just my answer though. It'd really help if it were aveyond himself saying it, not me.
I'm just going off of "wait, but I have seen people say it". Considering I get called out on every other thread for being too ambiguous, I wouldn't say that it's what aveyond actually meant (he has to say so himself). Only what I personally have seen.
:x probably not

Agreed, old friend, its just.....look I used to enjoy the old Tom Clancy books, had a character in it I LOVED, Adm Robby Jackson, had a huge part in the books, was a memorable and well fleshed out character with loads of background, a fighter pilot, a husband, a good and caring friend to Jack Ryan. That's just my answer though. It'd really help if it were aveyond himself saying it, not me.

Red Storm Rising, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger....( the book, not that steaming pile of fwe they laughingly called a "movie" ).....
Then, after Clancy died, came these new Jack Ryan Jr books, in the first book, in less than ONE throwaway line, he was written out as "murdered by some gunman"..his entire presence literally binned in one sentence. The circumstances of HOW he died were even more ridiculous.
I was not only gutted but also bloody angry....wait, no, make that appalled at such lazy, incompetent writing, glanced at the rest of the book and tossed it away. No great loss, the author couldnt fill Clancys shoes in a century and it SHOWED...the book was in a $2.00 bin after a month of publishing.
( Yes, it was THAT BAD.)
When you establish a foundation character, with paths and arcs in each and every book, then just toss them aside? The reader says "Yeah this is garbage" and doesnt buy it..or anything else by that writer.
When you establish a universe, create characters with huge arcs and developement, you do NOT just toss them into the garbage on a whim. You have to sell it to your readers..and you better do a bloody good job if it.

Shall we make them choke on a burger?
Therefore ensuring:
1. We remove an old, crusty, outdated, so last week character.
2. We get a shiny, new is always better character.
3. No more burger scenes due to fear of death by choking on a burger?
Most of the scions are at a pretty good place now, and most of their character arcs have come to a satisfying conclusion. I expect (and hope) that G'raha sticks around, unless Krile says that she is leaving to do whatever (with WoL) and G'raha must stay behind to deal with the students of Baldesion while she is gone, but that's all.
Thancred is probably the biggest question mark right now, with him having nothing specific to do. I think his character arc is pretty well done at this point but he has yet to reveal much about what he is doing. He is just scouting areas that have been affected by the Final Days, and that's it I think. I could've sworn that in the same sentence back in early 2022 when it was said that Krile would get more focus in the future, it was also said that so would Thancred. So I think we'll get around to him eventually.
If we are to get a whole new bunch of people to team up with in 7.0 (which I hope we do quite honestly), I at least would like the remaining scions to have decent goals and motives that will give them a good reason to stay in the background, and potentially one day making their goals relevant to the next expansions, even for side quests/content.
Good post, there ARE a group of people that are tired of different elements of the characters/story, and would like to see a huge change. I appreciate that you acknowledge that it does seem a majority of players aren't ready to just dump the Scions however.
On that thought, imo, it's just not feasible to start completely over with a whole new cast. We did that in ARR, and it took 50 levels of story to start to get a proper group of WoL companions together. Also, if they just dump the scions for the 'edgy scions' such as Fordola, Nero, Gaius, Lucia, and Lolorito as a poster jokingly(?) suggested, I'm willing to bet a massive outcry would result. Yes, let's just dump Y'shtola for Fordola and see how that goes. Estinien? Sorry, you're Lolorito now.
I can appreciate people not enjoying the Endwalker story, and honestly i didn't at first, and I'm only just now slowly coming around to it, but the solution isn't to just dump the cast.

You're misinterpreting my post: all the people listed in it would be companions.it's just not feasible to start completely over with a whole new cast. No one listed in the post gets replaced.
And no, I was not joking about Lolorito. Creating the reason why he's a companion might be a challenge, but IMO he's a very capable replacement for Minfilia and Tataru.
Is it a group that would have potential for internal conflict? Sure is.
[Edit: But, seriously, Boblawblah: Lucia, "edgy"? I don't see it.]

I would not mind a couple of new NPCs to travel with (let's keep Estinien tho, and maybe G'raha XD), while keeping the current Scions as re-occurring characters when needed. Just to freshen things up a bit, and introduce more non-scholarly types. Never been a fan of Krile tho. Can't imagine a whole expansion being focused around her. :/

*reads the rest of the thread*
*the only answer many can come up with is countering one extreme with another*
I guess stereotypes and "witty" writing makes up for it. It sure worked wonders for that new Saints Row game! It was like I was really playing the DMC: Devil May Cry of the Saints row series!
