Fake Square-enix Link

So today is the second time I received a "/tell" in New Gridania this past month along the same lines of...
(Hacked/scammer User>>"Quitting FFXIV, 300m giveaway starting in 15mins: [fake square-enix link]").

Is there anything we can do besides obviously not going on it(any links shouldn't be clicked on anyway), to help others from being tricked into clicking it? I report it via "cheating" but is that even the right thing to do?

Really, SE should add something about these scam tells, in the login message you see once logged in, where they add notices for Event and Maintenance.
A Warning message, etc.

And yes, its fine to Right click and Report just like you do for typical RMT tells or /say spam.

Isn't there a warning on the launcher itself warning about suspicious links? It's already there each time you log in to put in your password. A /tell like that already screams scam likely.

There is, but to no Avail, a Warning in the game when you login-you are forced to see, though, as its in the Chat log.

Forced to see perhaps, but not forced to read. Lots of the stuff that ends up in my chat log I never read, or pay any attention to.
Besides, anything showing up in the chat log will soon enough scroll off the screen and be out of sight and out of mind.

I did, but I also wonder how effective that can be since they're obviously not afraid to lose several accounts if that means they can bot spam thousands before being removed.

There isn't really anything they can do outside of deal with those that are reported. Any links taken down can just be remade elsewhere, any accounts can be remade with the free trial, IPs can be changed with VPNs. All that we can really do is just report and not click on them.

the report is mostly to lock the affected account down, so that whoever was affected can claim it back. also the links get taken down regularly, these people are just fast at bringing them back up.
