Unpopular opinion on G'raha Tia (spoilers)

I have no clue if this topic has been discussed before. My apologies in advance if it has.

I personally think G'raha's story should have ended atop the Crystal Tower without him returning to the Source.

It would have "cemented" him as a much more awe-inspiring character for his sacrifice (to me) and would have added even more emotional weight to 5.3's ending. Instead, we know in advance that he'll come back and we even get to meet him in the Source just 30 minutes after the fact.

I don't hate him. I think he's a fine addition to the Scions. But whenever I think of him now, I think of fanservice.

On a side note, I don't excuse Y'shtola's many fakeouts either. But plot-armor is a discussion for another thread.

I wouldn't say that this is an unpopular opinion at all. I didn't begin to dislike the character until after 5.3 wrapped up and it was all downhill from there. Letting characters bow out and exit with grace was like they did back in Heavensward with Ysayle and Haurchefaunt was one of the better aspects of the kind of storytelling we enjoyed in that era.

Despite however vocal some of his current fans are, there are a significant amount of people who are dissatisfied with his current treatment. If it does not improve, then indeed we would've been better off leaving him behind atop the Crystal Tower.

Indeed, now he is just a puppy following us around. But SE can't kill any of the "good guy" characters, they probably fear the community response and they know how vile it can be

My issue with Graha is just...oh hooray, another ff11 race. No au ra, viera or hrothgar Scion but god knows the game was dying for another 4'2" twink we see 12560 copies of at every single aetheryte.
If we were gonna get a wolsimp character he shouldve been a race they havent bled dry for 4 expansions like a highlander (arenvald got kneecaped and raubahn gets nothing to do), roegadyn (the only manroe is Biggs who hasnt had a spoken line since hw) au ra (yes we get plenty of auri...in azim steppe and if they arent treated like a joke ((magnai)) they get killed off ((ahewan))) and hrothgar (not a single hrothgar with a speaking role on the Source).
Like Im just tired as shit of the msq being nothing but middies elves and miqotes like why even have other races at this point ffs.

Indeed. Despite having such a variety of races to draw from, the main cast is oversaturated with representation from the stereotypical anime races and elves. Enough is enough, even if I like Zero she is still just another midlander at the end of the day. Vrtra's Au Ra face model was...something. When I asked for a male Au Ra to join the party I didn't mean that. A male Hrothgar/Highlander/Roegadyn addition would also add some much needed muscle and masculinity to the party.

poor Hoary Boulder finally got a voice actor after being a Scion since arr but still gets jack dick to do in the story gg writing staff love the blatant race bias.
I was so disappointed the only characters who mattered in Sharlayan were elves...again. Its just frigging Ishgard TWO at that point.

Well, he's my favorite scion. I can understand people not liking him, but I feel like his story is not over yet. He's the only living Allagan royal blood person alive. The Allagan empire has been a big part of the story throughout from the beginning of 2.0 and Meracydia is the main Allagan Empire area which we will be going into... so there is still alot more stuff that can happen in terms of story with his situation.

I can't stand him. He's insufferable and his story should have ended in SHB...making him a permanent member of the scions was a huge mistake.

To be blunt. I wish all the Scions except Estinien would just go away. I find them all boring. They all know everything or knows someone who does, they can do anything, and they have little to no real flaws. Alisaie is probably salvageable, but these wild swings between crying about the wol to stronk gamer girl are extremely annoying. I am more interested in Estinien, Gaius, and Vytra. They actually have goals and motivations. Not just some open ended save the world slog.

I don't mind so much that they woke him up, it's just that the soul transfer was successful. The Crystal Exarch had his plot arc fulfilled.

What I would have liked to have to seen happen is the soul transfer not work. Young G'raha not accepting the "new" soul/memories - or at least not fully enough for Crystal Exarch side to be the dominant. And then being told what he "did" in the alternate future and in the First. That would have given him a new character arc to happen: fulfilling his own shoes. Would be even more notable if the other Scions did ever gain the ability to travel [back] to the first. Original G'raha was an archer so it would have given a unique class to the Trust system and a unique role as well.
