The fact that we used hydaelyn/azem's crystal to purify zero in another world that she doesn't even want to save is wild to me. This is after y'shtola told us not to use the crystal way before we beat meteion because it had little power left.
I also don't know why we are reusing lore and bosses from old games just for fan service. Somebody I met totally spoiled this patch for me. They told me Golbez is from ff4 and that he had a pet dragon. Sure enough that’s how our patch story went. So people who played these games already have an inkling of what is going to happen. It seems to be an issue with all game companies nowadays to just sell remakes instead of new content. idk dawg, i'm out. i had great hopes from my start in shb but they have been crushed at this point

We're not "quite" on the level of the multiverse yet.

We're still in star trek mode jumping around planets that were originally part of a whole planet.

God forbid that multidimensional-alternate-universe-four-thousand-level-theoretical-physics bullshit starts infesting this plotline too like a lot of other fantasy stories these days.

I can just barely keep up with what's going on with the MCU. It's too many characters, too many stories, and the worst part of it all I can't even figure out which story is canon. (Marvel's also not the first comic line that started the whole alternate universes plot devices to keep them going. So it's not an original idea) But again, it better not come here or it'll just stop making sense entirely.

did I ever ask what another "dimension" actually is? I've heard that term thrown around for YEARS and I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND what it is or means. God damn writers...

I guess when Hydaelyn was made to be responsible for an unhinged eugenics campaign based around the use of Dynamis as well as inflicting genocide upon her own people due to them not reacting the 'right' way to a disaster she stood by with knowledge of and allowed to happen to them...the game had to come up with a new reason to retroactively have her look a little better through the purification of Zero.

I was rolling my eyes when Y'shtola suggested that it was all part of Hydaelyn's grand plan as if she could possibly account for that. Apparently we're meant to believe that she could account for so many different things in order for her plan to work but it was too hard for her to have an open and honest conversation with the Convocation back in the Unsundered world...

Pretty bizarre when a setting outlines a specific act as a line in the sand with no justification only to mysteriously change course and excuse it just because it happens to benefit the protagonists.

Alternate worlds/universes/time travel/magic crystals are all part of FF lore - the 6.2 dungeon alone was named after a town in FFIV for instance. And the Dissidia spin-off games all but stated outright that each FF game/title is set in it's own individual universe seperate from each other, but roughly connected by the Interdimensional Rift (and yes, we've had characters from other FF games literally appear here temporarily in FFXIV - Shantotto and Iroha from FFXI, Lightning from FFXIII and Noctis from FFXV being the most obvious), so, this is only to be expected.

Also, we didn't willingly use the crystal it kind of did that purification thing on Zero on it's own accord (I have my theories as to how and why on that subject, which I will not get into).

Yoshi outright stated from day one back during the Alpha test that ARR was going to directly reference and applaud every FF game and title in the series, it's basically a love letter to the entire FF series - of course it definetely helps if you've played those games or are familiar with them to get those references though. And before you pass judgement, it's hardly the first FF game to even do that (FFIX was basically the same).

I wish she stayed in her form when we are in the void. Or could enshroud into it.
I'm fine with her eventually looking human, but her turning back in her true form because we conveniently have Hydaelyn's crystal, felt really cheap.

At least introduce the crystal in 6.1 if the plan was to use it.

Zero is the best thing to happen to the game since Shadowbringers I think, so yeah personally have to disagree. I do think the game should avoid using nostalgia as a crutch, but there is also potential to do new and interesting things with these characters and tropes. We are only two patches into whats likely a five part story, there is still a lot of new things they can do with him.
