This is a very interesting point. I'm guessing you're referring to the more "feminine" looking dresses. But these are designed to accentuate the female physique: a small waist, moderate to big breasts, sometimes even big waist and butts. Even IRL, these type of dresses look odd on super muscular, and somewhat squared, physiques because it's not really fitted for these type of bodies.

They'd have to design a dress with said races in mind, or customize these per race, which was already something the playerbase complained about. You know the Hempen set? It looks different on every race, people were not happy.

But since this topic is about being able to switch between two types of the same gear, I think that's something that won't generate as much controversy as tailoring the same set to match each body type and risking them look different (and then having people come here to complain about how x version is better and should be available on every race).

Clearly they do since they are already doing it with the separate gender exclusive items every patch.

This. So much this. Female characters have almost NO swim options other than string bikinis, even though there are plenty of super cute irl examples of board shorts for ladies. And for this one in particular, not everyone is comfortable with that type of more revealing clothing, so it can be pretty restrictive for some players. Players deserve options to their own taste and comfort. There's no reason why female characters should have gotten locked out of the shorts the guys got.

Simply put, SE just needs to fond a good schedule or Rhythm on making Gear that has Drastically<-> Noticeable different either apply to all races/Clans/Genders.
    or better yet.
have a Turn in, that converts into a Glamour piece<that doesn't have gender, class or race locks> or vendor.

    Going Forwards.
if they keep making it as so, their workload will just increase as they slowly remove restrictions from old gear.
[whilst also a different topic, if done so, it also adds reasons for changes in other sectors that have clothing, or gear that is gender or class locked for single or multiple use.., to have better use or changes but I won't go into that]

[Personally I don't have issues with Female Glamour being in a certain direction. and honestly feel it's been acceptably tame for its Rating. But many Male Glamours have also suffered due to the lack of option, or restrictions.., tldr. if they forget making sure they don't make future work they'll have to adjust later. they'll never run out of requests for gear to be Unclass/Ungender/unrace locked. which in and of itself in the long run tie up hands for other endeavors if they keep making gear this way.]

Dev team blood pressure rising seeing new gendered gear removal demands while looking at the whopping 2 male characters who actually wear the bunny suit after years of complaints

The Gold Saucer set? I thought those were useable by everyone.

The devs have been doing a great job going back and making gender exclusive gear available for everyone and I believe eventually they will do so for everything. However, that still leaves the issue of single gear pieces that differ in appearance depending on who equips them.

One example is the Casual Attire:

The female version turns the top into a long dress with shorts far above the knee. The male version's shirt ends much further up with longer shorts. I would personally much prefer the male version which I feel suits the highlander tomboy vibe much better, and I'm sure there are many players who feel the same in either direction.

Another excellent example are the Nier sets from Copied Factory:

Again I would absolutely love to be able to use the male versions of these sets. They look so dignified!

So what is the solution? It seems like there are two potential options.

    1. Split every piece of gendered gear into [M] and [F] sets like the Rathalos gear.
People who already have the gear would probably have to be forced into one or the other during the transition, then can go trade it for the opposite one if they want at the Calamity Salvager or some other vendor. The issue with this solution is how it impacts the actual drops. When you defeat a boss in Copied Factory would it now drop two of every item? Does it drop a token you turn in for the look of your choice?

    2. Leave the gear as is but add an NPC or right click menu option that flips the appearance from one look to the other.
This would be the ideal solution IMO but I have no idea if it's even possible given how the game works under the hood.

What do you think? Which solution would you like to see implemented, or is there an even better one you would prefer?
Ideally yeah, it would be great... But that would necessitate work to adapt the sets to the other gender.

It's possibly the best solution, but I wouldn't hold my breath for them to making this a regular standard, sadly.

They're already doing exactly that with the separate gendered items. The only extra work would be figuring out how to give players that choice for a single item.

They really hesitant to unlock the bunny outfit for men for 4. YEARS. Because they find it weird to designed for men...

Although my respect to them slowly rising after they keep unlocked the genderlock (except the Thavnairian panties that become a boxer )

That's irrelevant now. They've been releasing unisex versions of the gender-locked items at a good pace for some time.

The only roadblock here is that some can't even get started because they've merged the two items into one inventory slot.
