I seriously just want ungendered Neoishgardian sets and Garo gear.
The Neoish ladies tank and healer...idk battlegown are DIVINE and Id love to use them. The male tanking top has grown on me but the healer vest is so boring.
The only Garo set I particularly care for is the healers set Id have it a permanent fixture on my glam swap options if I could use that set.
I'll take the npc giving us a toggle bc while annoying I feel like it be less wasteful than doubling the number of gear in the game with rathalos style m/f sets that are ultimately the same statistically just...gendered.
Altho I would make it so one gender gear toggle npc is in each hub area to reduce any kinda lag or risk of crashing by having one npc in one place. Also put one in Mor Dhona and Horizon since we have to go to Waking Sands/Rising Stones so so often. (waking sands less so past arr but still).

I agree about GARO; some of the female-only headgear is gorgeous and has no business being gender-locked whatsoever. It's not the same as the items in the OP though as they're already separate items and just locked for no rational reason (and the Gold Saucer versions should really be class-unlocked too, because some of those pieces would make great accessories for different classes' looks).

I also agree that the divergent looks of some of the shared pieces which look different based on gender are annoying. "The female version always looks better on females" is obviously nonsense; the various races are more different aesthetically than most of the genders are from one another and what looks good varies from one model to the next, but the dividing line isn't always gender. And then there are lalafell. My character looks straight up ridiculous in all of the below-the-knee shorts they keep handing out whereas my female-miqo'te-playing friend is sick of having her thighs on display all of the time. The designers aren't designing with every character model in mind so why must they stop us from using the options which look best?

Absolutely. Having a collection of different characters makes it clear that gear pieces can seem underwhelming on one character but fantastic on another, depending on their proportions and stance, or even just the vibe of the character. (I have two male Miqo'te among my alt collection – logically they are identical character models from the neck down, and yet clothes that suit one of them can look totally wrong on the other.)

I would love to see separated versions of the gendered designs become available. There's a long list of things I'd like to have available to the other gender, going in both directions.

Aaaaaaaaaaahhh I really want some of the men's stuff. Neo-Ishgardian stuff for example is soooo handsome and I wish my butchy hyur could wear it like that, ha ha. Sad that the game won't let me.

And yes, I know she would rock it, like I knew the Mun'gaek set would look amazing on female characters.

Since all clothes are body models, they clearly do not want to double the workload by making twice as many by the pants/skirt choice.
It sucks, but thats the rocks.

They already double their workload by making gender differences, they still have to fit it to every different bodytype and the females are (mostly) closer together in bodytype than the male bodytypes

If they didn't want people to want the other genders set, which I do want in some cases, they wouldn't make it so extremely different sometimes...
That's their own fault for doing it :/
I want the male Valentines vest, some of the male Garo gear looks sick but alas...

Sure, but they could always do less. It is just escalating workload that is probably the problem. If you only made a piece of cloth on a race and a gender, that would be one model. Making two for two genders and 9 races (mid/highlander division as one)... thats 58 models. Maybe it is easy to copypaste the Roe wiremesh on the table and just make it hunch to create a Hrothgar, who knows, but I think it would be sad if we only got unisex designs as a compromise as an example.

It would be sad if we only get one unisex type, yeah

But we don't and they just lock the other thing forever by making it ONE item that changes appearance...
And I'm no expert but I think it's just fitting them to each bodytype and then some algorythm or something fits them to the heights of the characters and as said, the female skeletons seem to be pretty similar overall. I can't speak if they have to do 58 models or just half of it, or however it works...

I understand your reasoning, it is extra work, but it's still always sad to see... there's so many cool things I can't wear because, oop, my item is a frilly dress and not a snazzy vest/coat/mantle/whatever.

They make the work themself is just what i'm saying because they DO have one item that changes appearance and that's already extra modeling work, we just want the opposite gender, too (the GREEEEEEEED)

Clearly they do since they are already doing it with the separate gender exclusive items every patch.

I'd like it some masculine sets really do fit female characters quite well (Vise versa prolly), More options for characters are the better. I get pretty annoyed with a lot of the male locked glams (ones that share the same gear but look totally different) because I wanna use them.

Sure some might look "odd" to people but having the choice is always better then not having the choice, If someone wants to wear something when they can't its a big shame.
