Bad choice of a title, but I kind of agree with the post that others clearly didn't read. He's not calling the stat useless, just that skill and spell speed should be just merged into a haste stat.

It's a clickbait title, yes... But I did expect people to read the context since it wasn't even a wall of text.

Your new to game forums ? XD
Jokes aside people that heavily dissagree with what a title implies most of the time wont actually read the post and just go ME SMASH in the topic.
And to stay on topic i rather get more Crit or Direct Hit or ANY other stat on any Job/Class then Skill/Spell speed.
Does not make big enough change for me to feel it. i mean going from 2.5 to 2.45 or even 2.40 ? yeeeah no thx. if it would be atleast an Entire Second like going from 2.5 to 1.5 or maybe 2.0 if you heavily stack it then i would consider it.

Eh, I definitely feel the difference between 2.5 and the go to 2.14 GCD on SAM. It may look like a small difference, but its definitely noticeable.Your new to game forums ? XD

Depending on the job even going from 2.50 to 2.40 isn't just noticeable, it is vital. Take gunbreaker for example, you literally can not execute your burst phase correctly at 2.50, but at 2.40 you can do it comfortably.
It really depends on what class you are playing that determines how useful that is. On Samurai for example, it can be pretty useless since one of the passives you get using it greatly increases your Skill Speed anyway. Then there classes like Warrior that doesn’t need any and just focuses on Crits, despite being the Tank, and doesn’t need any Skill Speed buffs.
There are some that needs some at least, like Gunzerker, but that’s just what I’ve heard since I haven’t tried it yet.
Its not useless on SAM. You don't need a lot, but still need some SkS to reach the standard 2.14s GCD unless you're going speedy boy build that goes under 2.0s.
Warrior Main here. I Unga'd for two years, and haven't played any other job class til recently. I had no clue what skill speed does (till I started playing BLM) and always max crit stats for my Bunga.
TL;DR: You have to Unga Crit to Bunga. If Bunga Skill Speed, Unga no wants.
Okay Bye.

Skill Speed just became the new Accuracy. It used to be "you need exactly X accuracy to hit the savage raid boss." Get to that cap and then every bit of accuracy over that worthless. With accuracy gone, the next one in line is Skill Speed. "You need to be a X skill speed to execute your rotation properly." It isn't any different.
Skill Speed has always been the black sheep of materia since ARR. There is no job that needs to go all-in on it (unlike BLM and Spell Speed).
Unpopular opinion warning:
I'd rather see a 95% accuracy cap and force players to adjust their rotations. No more brain-dead rotations like we have for every single job in the game. The game is too rigid in its expectations. Or rather, the game's playerbase is too rigid in its expectations. Every job has a set opener and rotation and if you can't do it, you are a terrible gamer and go home to "git gud." I'd love to see what would happen if we had random misses that necessitated adjusting our rotations around it. We'd have to actually think again.
This would be utter trash and was done in 1st weeks of Savage raids before Acc became DH. Absolutely would be rage inducing and screw progression on Savage raids more just because I missed crucial OGCDS, no, just no.
