    Skill Speed is worthless!

I'm not exactly sure why hasn't Skill and Spell speed been consolidated into a single Haste stat yet.

Skill speed on tank gear has the issue of only benefiting 2 of the 4 tanks, PLD becomes slightly worse compared to DRK since part of its burst are all Spells.

Stop giving me the illusion of choice when there's none!

Skillspeed definitely isn't worthless, but we've been barking up the merge SkS and SpS tree for a very long time now. Probably isn't going to happen.

Skillspeed has pretty much always been a case of "get as much as you need for your rotation to work in a fight".
The only time where going all in on skillspeed was viable on some jobs was back in Stormblood and only because we had access to the completely busted Elemental+1 gear.

    Skillspeed isn't worthless, it's mandatory.
The problem is that the best skillspeed depends from one player to another.

There are some jobs that absolutely wants lower GCD, BLM I believe.
There are some jobs that just wants a set SKS like SAM, NIN, MNK, GNB...
There are some jobs that wants 0 SKS, I believe the whole ranged role doesn't want SKS, DRG and RPR, DRK doesn't need SKS.

IMO, the player should have easier control over the SKS/SPS.
For example, bring back stats points and let us spend those in SKS/SPS, CRIT, DH and DET + Remove all SKS from gear.

SKS can be random while you're working on your BiS, having your SKS always set to your prefered SKS would be amazing.

    I see...
    Don't change anything.

With enough Skill/Spell Speed. Your CD is shorter and you attack more often, more Dps and more Regen via skills that Regen

Except that there is a soft and hard cap.

The other problem with speed is that it can be forced on a job that doesnt want it. I like a clean 2.5 GCD tyvm.

BRD & DNC both want a small bit of speed to slip one extra GCD into their buffs. Same for SMN getting an extra GCD in both Bahamut and Phoenix by going with 2.48 instead of 2.50

SkS/SpS has always been the problem stat. You either

a.) NEED to have a certain amount.
b.) Avoid it like the plague because it screws your rotation/weaving.

In both cases SkS/SpS on gear that you have no choice over is just bad.

    I like this idea.

I'd remove Tenacity, Piety, SkS and SpS from gear entirely and add something similar to WoW's Reforge system, where you can convert up to a set amount of one stat on your gear into a "Utility stat" (Pie, Ten, Haste, could even add new ones). In addition to melds that would give players plenty of control over how much of those stats they wanted, without making new pieces of gear feel bad.

Which is needed for a few openers and such, like the Early gluttony opener on RPR. If you have barely any skill speed on your gear, it throws Plentiful Harvest off for a fraction of a second (meaning you're waiting for it unless you use another Soul Slice to avoid this happening).
