Waiting for rollback- should I start an alt?

Hey guys!

I'm currently in the period of waiting for an account rollback from SE (yes I'm stupid enough apparently for those) and wasn't sure if it's worth making an alt to play on until the rollback.

Not sure how long these things are currently taking, if anyone has experiences with rollbacks anytime recently, and obviously anything done on my main account will end up getting rolled back anyway. What are peoples' opinions on if it'll be long enough to justify levelling an alt? I don't particularly enjoy alts, but it's better than not being able to play the game if it's gonna be a period like 3 months.

Also side note- hoping my poor island sanctuary isn't reset. Not sure how game data is saved and reset since it should only be inventory/gil needed. I've accepted that I'll probably lose the mounts I bought with cowries, just hope I don't lose everything else!

I definitely recommend it. Alts are a great way to experience a race you've wanted to try without having to use a fantasia, as well as a change to explore new jobs you haven't done before. I see you joined the forums in 2017 so assume you were around before the changes to ARR and HW. Going through those again is worth making an alt all on their own. You'll be amazed at the details you've forgotten or completely missed thinking they weren't really important.

2.0 and onward to HW was a chore the last time I did it. but 2.0 itself wasn't too bad.

My friends and I have always enjoyed leveling alts through ARR and Heavensward. It's like reading a favorite book you haven't read in a while. And doing the low-level dungeons is a stress-free relaxing romp compared to endgame. Doing it on a preferred world, with Road to 80, and with the SDS Fenris mount from Mog Station, which always travels at the higher mount speed, makes it even better.

So far, I have two characters leveled to endgame, another to end of Shadowbringers, two in part-way through Stormblood, one to Litany of Peace in HW, and another five to various points in ARR. I've always got a character with rested XP I can level.

if you mean clicking on a fake forum link, i did the same thing. it took them like 2 weeks to give my main account back. i was honestly kinda hopeless so i re-bought the game anyways. then i just gave it to a friend and got the twintania dragon lol

I got the account back already, but I'm just waiting for them to roll it back to before I lost gil etc- I can play on it rn, but there's no point since everything will disappear once they do roll it back

I'd say go ahead and go with the idea of making an alt just so you can see what its like on other data centers.

I have a feeling my main's life in Crystal may have been....spoiled by the fact there might be a lot of old players who are used to the game. It's such a vast difference from the stories I hear about on r/talesfromdutyfinder.

Of course this gives validation to an old parable:

And if you've never recieved the bonuses before, if you make it on Alpha/Raiden/Saggitarius/Phantom you will get 1,000,000 gil and 15 days free playtime just by reaching level 30.
