Cannot play game due to constant DX11 crashes

I know this is a common problem, but I came back to the game (which I haven't played since before Endwalker). Now I cannot effectively play because the game constantly crashes. There isn't a specific length of time between crashes - sometimes it is one minute, sometimes it is an hour, but it always happens.

I have reinstalled drivers, killed auto devices that aren't my default, lowered settings, capped the framerate, and tried DX9, the latter of which just causes freezes instead of straight CtD. I also ran a memtest which found no errors and have reinstalled FF14 on three separate occasions. This is a problem I only have with FF14 specifically.

The game is actually on the C: Drive, I moved it over from F: due to seeing that suggestion elsewhere here. I don't know why it still shows F: at the top, but in the actual process information you can see it is running off of C:

I tried turning off the Steam overlay, but no noticeable difference. It's obviously hard to tell since the crashes are semi-random, but they are still happening. I would prefer not to uninstall Geforce Experience as I find it very useful. If my only choices are no Experience or no FF14, I'll probably just unsub from FF14.

I'm having the same troubles, i've tested pretty much every solutions i got to read but nothing did the trick.

A suggestion for you, i'm seeing you have a Razer headset. Do you by any chance have installed Razer Cortex or any other Razer softwares ? I've seen it may cause troubles with FFXIV so, you may take a look on this.

And in the game set it to 60FPS, play a bit and see if it crashes.

Apart from removing GFE completely and using just the native Display driver for the 2080 Ti to test if it conflicts, so you can rule it out, you might be out of luck!

Tried uninstalling GFE and then doing a clean install of the driver only. No change in the crashes. I also set the frame rate to 60, but that didn't seem to change anything.

I also tried uninstalling all of the Razer software and that didn't seem to work either unfortunately.

I don't think your Processor has inbuilt Graphics like most do these days, but if it does, you could set the game to use it instead of the 2080 to see if its the 2080 that's got some issue with this game.

The only other thing you could do is use an older driver, but seems like its the card itself that may have issues.

If you play at 1440p you could try 1080p with 60fps so the card isn't under much load.

Have you tried to run it in Windowed mode? Not Borderless or Fullscreen, as Borderless is known to cause issues and sometimes even Fullscreen will, worth trying any of the 3 if you haven't.

I don't think I have an inbuilt graphics card (or couldn't find how to use it), but I did try rolling back drivers, playing in windowed mode, and really bringing down the resolution. None of that seemed to help.

I eventually got frustrated enough to wipe the drive, reinstall my OS, and download literally everything over again and that seems to be working so far. Always hard to tell with intermittent errors, but I've played for two days, an hour or two each day, with no crashes so far. Here's hoping that resolved it.

Update: The problem is happening again unfortunately. No idea what brought it back or how to make it go away. I don't want to have to erase my SSD every two weeks so another solution would be great.

I'm sorry to hear that this issue is still occurring. If you have yet to to try some of these troubleshooting steps, I would recommend giving them a try to see if they might help with these crashes:

- Perform a clean boot by opening the Task Manager and selecting the 'Start up' Tab. Once there, please disable everything listed, and restart the PC.
- Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated (including any optional updates, as they are not usually automatically installed).
- Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen optimizations'
and then click 'Apply'.
- Make sure your anti-virus software has teh appropriate exceptions for FINAL FANTASY XIV (or you can temporarily disable/turn off the program for testing purposes).
