I guess that was better way to get over the .007% drop chance....

It was pretty much the only way to get it. Any daily or weekly spawns were camped by RMT shells non-stop. If you somehow managed to get the aggro first they would drag mobs to the fight and then started casting raise on your people and then interrupt at the end so that you couldn't get your party back up. Then when you were dead they ran in and took the spawn from you.

TML, Squeenix never did anything to stop it.

I camped it daily for year, no drop.. You forget the BCNM up in arms was another farm. This thread brought back the memories. Was very few of us that killed AV let alone unlocked sea!

I'm trying to remember mine. I have much more fond memories from XI days. Maybe I'm having rose-tinted glasses cause I spend my teenage years with XI.
I like XIV but I made friends for life in XI cause social and making friends mattered so much more than in modern MMO where you can just hit a button and do your raid or dungeon.

I hate to ruin the joke, but the story was that DRKs with a specific club were able to beat the living heck out of Absolute Virtue and win within 30 seconds I think? Least that is how the story goes.

The Battle Designer Devs were extremely pissed off lol (thus looking over my shoulder).

Well not really in early days before nerf this wasn't possible, even after was many years before endgame clan would pull off kills let alone using this method. Am talking the 1% of 1%... The story of AV was XI legend. Years of trying to work out how to kill without glitch.. The devs even put out a video of them fighting it to give us hints. FFXIV did not do AV justice at all.

Well the endgame was full of toxic drama but rest of game is legit good, but it is old style MMO, hats off to the folks who keeping it going devs and players!

Gotta have a single summoner along to summon Fenrir if you really want to get the most out of of the DRK suicide club build.

Ah, okay. I played SMN in FFXI, never really touched DRK.

...Ok let me put it this way

Remember that tedious task of having to hunt for specific weathers in different parts of the world?

Now, imagine being given a lv 1 sword, no matter your actual capabilities at that point to equip literally anything better, and be forced to grind exactly 100 enemies.

That's DRK's unlock condition, and it's possibly the most tedious thing Square Enix has ever created.
