    The inconsistencies In Available headgear For Viera

    The Abysoss headgear are all available for Viera which makes sense they hide the entire head model so any of the issues with getting Viera headgear to work don't have to be considered. I mean hell they even hide the ears which whatever i can pretend they're folded back against the head but this begs the question why aren't the crafted helmets usable too? the crafted helmets also replace the entire head model and yet they can't be seen on Viera and I don't really understand what the difference between them and the raid gear is it feels entirely arbitrary what helmets (not hats) are availablre for Viera.

    This inconsistency has been around for ages the Cryptlurker hoods but not the helmet? The Imperial hats but not the PVP reward? The Reaper hat but not the Dragoon or Dark Knight helmets? (although this could be down to the /vison functionality the Dragoon helmet has)

    I just don't understand the seemingly random nature of which full head model replacement headgear can and cannot be worn on Viera. The issue is exclusive to Viera as Hrothgar can wear all of these which again makes sense the entire (or most of) head model is replace

    This is a ramble so TL;DR rabbit abyssos yes but rabbit crafted no?? why????

    edit: I was wondering if some gear pieces are due to the face showing like the Tiamt helmet but hood already have isolated faces so it just gets more confusing and arbitrary.

    Ultimately it comes down to a few simple things.

    1. Whether the automatically adjusted model looks good, and if it doesn't do they feel like spending the time do adjust it.
    2. Whether they are satisfied with how it looks with the ears
    Mostly with the clipping but they have released stuff that has the clipping to the contrary afaik they never adjusted something specifically for this as it'd be a lot more work than they've shown willingness to do.
    3. Does the hat have hair showing?
    In this case it won't ever work until they decide to put effort into all the viera hairs because it's just not set up to work atm.

    So yes, there are some inconsistencies, a bunch of hats that don't have hairs enabled would look good even without manual adjustment, but I guess going back and changing a single flag is not something the higher ups care about.

    About your comment on visor, it's a bit of a yes/no, and mostly ties in with how the auto model adjustment system they use isn't very good at accounting for stuff like glasses and properly placing it on the eyes/nose, and the faces themselves have a bit of inconsistency as well. If you really care to figure out how this works there are several communities who can satisfy this kind of curiosity, and the devblog has some interesting pieces too, at least there's no PR there from what I've seen.

    I 100% get why we have no hats it would be a huge sink of the asset teams time to adjust all the hair styles and hat models etc I just assume they're holding off until femhroth are ready or 7.0 to do a pass over Viera and Hrothgar.

    It's mostly now with the Abysoss gear showing that the ears are free to go I don't understand why the crafted helmets weren't also made wearable it feels like a really weird thing to happen in the same patch. The ears on the Troian , Reaper and Imperial hats all just clip straight through.

    Some classes have hair showing, and pure guesswork here but the maiming/fending could have left the base of the ears floating? Even if it wasn't that, one of the new island sanctuary boots appear incorrectly when worn along with specific items, sometimes things just get overlooked/not considered.

    My assumption atm is the abysoss stuff being wearable was a last minute decision as they didn't want anyone missing out on the glowy hats and didn't remember the crafted set. I'm glad we at least got more headgear the troian wizard hat being available is giving me motivation to get back to levelling black mage. The patch leaves me hopeful for future Viera helmets and I'm hoping for one that really fits Dragoon.

    It does kill me to see all the other races with their ears just popping out of wherever but apparently that's not possible with the bunny ears

    That said, it appears that they're slowly shifting over to allowing more head gear, although if I'm honest, I like the no headgear look anyways better, but having more choice can't be a bad thing.
