This tier’s balance is god awful especially since the jobs have never been more boring
-The melees except for RPR are way overtuned, MNK, NIN and SAM do 1000 rDPS more than the 5 ranged DPS even though they do not have to fight at all for uptime this tier (seriously what mechanic except maybe like the 1 GCD when going out in “not intermediate relativity” in p6 do melee lose significant uptime), RPR is excessively punished for a small regen on its defensive that’s weaker than mantra (it should be slightly below the others due to rotational simplicity but not at this level).
-BLM is both too weak to fill the fake melee spot in a double caster comp and is set to get worse as it doesn’t benefit anywhere near as much as the melees from gear progression concentrating damage in the burst window, but on the other hand blow RDM and SMN out of the water for the true caster spot who are both excessively taxed for their rezzing capabilities which are completely useless on 8 because half the mechanics if you fail them he just immediately enrages (A11 says hi I actually like this mechanic) and even if you fail a mechanic he isn’t programmed to enrage on you won’t meet the DPS check with a death unless you have a meta comp. RDM is especially badly balanced this patch considering it has to fight for uptime far more than the melee, often can’t do it’s melee combo properly and has limited movement tools and still a gold RDM parse is worth about a 12 melee.
-Phys ranged are trash as usual, BRD and DNC are already exceeding MCH even before gear progression concentrates their rDPS and all three still suffer from their excessive movement penalty that was meant to compensate for lack of ability to get full melee uptime but they don’t even have to fight for that anymore.
-PLD is just unfair at this point, it’s arguably the most complex tank with its 61 second rotation and it gets hit with the double whammy this tier of its damage being in the toilet and block having no effect on DOT busters, WAR could also stand a buff as bloodwhetting while having powerful healing is very weak as a short term % mitigation.
-Ironically about the only role well balanced right now is healers, AST is a bit behind but AST is always a bit slow to progress as the burst windows are optimised and gear progression brings up their raid DPS
seriously if I wanted balanced this messy I’d play a game that has interesting classes to compensate for this
