    Is max overmelding worth it?

For both Hand and Land gear sets.

I over melded just enough to do the crafts and gather the 6.2 mats.

Most of my crafting consists of prior expansion stuff. Most of my Gil generation isnt from current content. I really just want to craft the current stuff for myself and friends but I might want to gather hard for Gil on the 6.2 materials.

I have noticed the max crafters with the 5 materia super melds on each slot. I can afford it to do that but I really want to know if its even worth it in my case to do so before I invest in that.

    Thank you in advance.

It's not worth it if you're just crafting the new i610 battle gear.
It's worth it if you're crafting the new Water Otter Fountain components (Expert Recipes).

    It's your call!

    Absolutely worth it.

Don't need expensive HQ ingredients for the new stuff or significantly less HQ ingredients and you can shave off multiple steps on other recipes, saving you a massive amount of time.

Don't forget those items also spiritbond faster as well. If you have the Gil to pentameld, it's worth it.

Having 132 (36+36+36+12+12) more secondary attributes instead of 72, of course it's useful.

We struggle to get the right secondary attributes on gears to optimise, that's what meld and overmeld is for.

Meld on all your gear is +612.
Overmeld on all your gear +1332

That's double your secondary attributes bonuses.

And the same people who think meld is useless can't tank or dps well. Well tanking isn't just holding aggro and faceroll, hoping your heal holds you and there's Dps. In heal, more heal and regen.

But many think not, look for the logic.

Naoki, the question was asked in the DoH forums. Melding for DoH/DoL is different than DoW/DoM.

For DoH and DoM, overmelding (these days) may be viewed in as a question of investment optimization.
If you're going to be doing a lot of crafting/gathering, overmelding can pay off in terms of more items made/gathered per hour.
But if you just want to, say, craft some gear for yourself, you may want to invest your gil elsewhere.

But since this is a game, you can also just do what works for you.
There's a certain joy in having your gear be the best it can be, even if you don't get a good ROI on it.

Only for Experts or pushing hard on gil making.

I max pentameld every patch, but I only do it because I can and it gives me a goal. It's still well worth it to pentameld, but you can use cheaper materia. Budget overmelds handle Master Recipes just fine.

It depends. Your cost goes down as you craft more. If your plan is to just make your own gear and little else, do less melds and make more HQ ingots, alkahests, lumber, etc. If your plan is to sell gear (or do expert recipes), the initial cost of melding will pay itself back simply by spending less time crafting (easier to HQ, less HQ ingredients needed).

I prefer not to spend the gil. I also don't mess with the market too much. It's a bit of a grind to get materia from gear at first. I double down with making the collectibles and buying up more materia with scrip. After that, I keep spending my 2000 cap tomes to make components for the mastercraft gear.

Remember to run the +6 spiritbond potion or the FC buff to generate materia faster. When harvesting those rare nodes, go for durability adds to get more bond.

You can leave the crafting tools for last on pentamelding or even skip it if you're not going for expert recipes like the fountain parts.
