Midgardsormr sealed the Blessing of Light and apparently left us with only the Echo, which apparently stopped Hydaelyn from speaking to us, but we were still shielded from primal influence.

It was actually noted before then that nobody had heard from Hydaelyn since the Praetorium. Minfilia asks the WoL about it even before we meet Midgardsormr.

On the other hand, they make a big feature of us starting to hear Hydaelyn specifically as we unlock each crystal until she speaks to us fully as we unlock the entire array.

I think that might have been the last time we heard from her, though. Outside of the Word of the Mother anyway.
