But we haven't heard specifics so we don't know they will be goofy at all. The new quest requires finishing Hildy, yes, and one route could be goofy weapons. But they're not being called Hildebrand weapons. They're being called Manderville weapons. And it's Godbert who has been said to be involved. The other route they could go is being just as non-goofy as all our other relic weapons with a Manderville flair to them. You also have to consider that we have Gerolt involved and he may not want to put his stamp on goofy weapons. I'm not ruling goofy out. I just don't see why everyone is convinced that has to be how they will be.

As both are promised to be added to the game, many People make the, imho reasonable, assumption that if relic weapons are tied to the new Hildebrand quests, it would be a prime opportunity to use the goofier winning designs.

For the same reason that so many people on the forum were against asking for more patch content after the abysmal patch that was 6.1.
For the same reason that so many people on the forum were against expecting level 80+ sprouts to have 2 brain cells between their ears.
For the same reason that so many people on the forum are against having a coherent story that properly sets up stakes instead of treating its own main characters like they are invincible.
For the same reason that so many people on the forum are against adding more masculine options for male characters.

A lot of people on these forums simply argue for the sake of doing so, even when their position makes no logical sense. They're contrarians. "Wanting more weapons in the game is bad because uh... because you want more weapons you horrible person!!!"

If nothing else, such individuals usually make themselves very easy to identify. I've reached the point where I simply make ample use of the ignore feature if someone proves an unwillingness to compromise and agree to disagree.

When people can't separate their favourite product from themselves then it rarely leads anywhere good as any criticism whatsoever is seen and treated as a deeply personal attack.

this infuriates me, its a small issue yes but one that hasnt gotten any better over time. Main reason why I hate when new jobs start so late, 7.0 being at 80. Which means it has a lofty excuse. Oh Reaper has no Kami weapons like Byakko and Suzaku because it wasnt available at the time... despite MCH, RDM, SAM, AST and DRK having dreadwyrm weapons, and primal gear, and for rdm and sam case all of the HW trial gear. GNB and DNC? nada, SGE and RPR? try again

It would be a good chance, but many around here are talking like it's a done deal. And holding that assumption against the relic questline and saying it's just going to be stupid and silly when the reality is we don't know what is going to happen because they've been very mum on the subject.

Was there an actual response somewhere amid all those insults and flailing? It doesn't have to be the same company. It simply shows they are more than willing to outsource if need be. We are often told by a certain contingent within this community that money is not the issue, and that manpower is but that they don't want to outsource. And yet they do. If you think this amounts to you being proven right it only speaks to the level of delusion you're gripped by.

All I ever see is comments on smol indie company with no budget in response to being told things probably won't happen. There's a lot of speculation, but not enough discussion of facts and the way things are going and have been going.

If money is not the issue, then why isn't it happening? If manpower isn't the issue, then why isn't it happening? These are questions I ask, but you all just want to attack me over actually addressing the topic instead of just being all "lol yeah give us this." I've never made any assumptions about their budget or manpower. I've always said that things are more complicated than just one thing or another. They also have their schedule they're trying to adhere to. It's the opinion of others that they should be able to simply drop what they're doing or even have another company drop what they're doing to help out a few players. No matter the budget or the resources, there's always a limit. The only thing limitless is the ignorance and insolence around here on these topics. Therein lies my main point which I'm right about. You don't know enough about what's going on to make any kind of credible argument for having something happen.

On the subject of people making the changes for free, congrats to those that put the time in and maybe nailed the look, but that's a ToS violation and a conversation that probably isn't going to happen between those two parties. They have their practices and their rules and their standards for who they want to deal with. They've made their choices for where they want to invest. Maybe somewhere down the road, when they've finished up the extra races and gender reworks and duty support, they might decide to go back and address the weapons.


I'm curious just how much backtracking they're supposed to do for the sake of newer jobs.

In ShB alone, you have 6 trials with weapons, 3 raid tiers, 3 tome tiers, 3 crafting tiers, 3 relic stages = 36 weapons. You can see where I'm going with this. It's an extreme case, but clearly the direction we head in if we're going to keep on about new jobs and their weapons. I don't know the hourly rate on legit 3d artists, but it definitely starts to add up. Of course, it's not just the art. The item creators have to get involved and put all these items in their respective spots.

This process is supposed to be repeated and magnified every time a new job comes out?

If you can respond to this without your own flailing, then we might get somewhere, but you don't want that.

I think they have a better chance of ending being rewarded from Gold Saucer. The goofy ones I mean. Or maybe as a reward from a new Hildebrand trial.
