    BLM movement and representation

    Black Mages are quite stiff in movement options and sure you can slide around but it would be nicer if we weren't so locked into one position. Especially cause of Ley Lines which is honestly one of the worst additions to the toolkit.

    Summoner is able to move around despite cast times and I don't see why Black Mage can't have some of this toned down. We saw with caster Bard no one liked that and that was changed.

    Another issue I have is the artifact/relic armor of Black Mage. Not a single one looks like the classic NES Black Mage. The hats all look dumb, there's no simple robe. What ever happened to simplicity? There's way too much overdesign in the clothing of this game.

    SMN is actually way too mobile for a caster, it's basically a physical ranged.

    Only at end game, but I guess that falls under the same general issue of a lot of classes feeling awkward at earlier levels.

    That's not really a bad thing, though. RDM bops around just as much. And mechanics are increasingly relying on very split-second movement. BLM is mobile, but does feel more punished by these mechanics if the rotation isn't perfect, unlike SMN or RDM.

    RDM is equally screwed by a split second aoe dropping on them, although admittedly its easier to slide with the extra second they they have to move can mitigate this issue though.

    A RDM dropping a cast is pretty painful though, because one dropped cast is two dropped casts. Both rdm and blm solve this problem the same way though; learning the fight, noting when mechanics happen, and preparing their plethora of tools for those occasions. That's the gameplay conceit of and challenge for casters.

    Also, smn should be casting more, not the other way around making blm and rdm cast less. They're CASTERS. That's their whole gameplay theme. There are plenty of other jobs to play if cast times are your bane.

    RDM still has to cast its 2s GCD for white/black mana. The only time they aren't casting is during sword combo.

    SMN casts 2 Ifrit spells, 1 Garuda spell, and Ruin III if they got some burst cooldown drift. Literally everything else is an instant cast.
