    I picked up DRG as a main this tier and these are the only things that bug me about it:

    -Mirage Dive is basically a filler ability. Might as well have it baked in High Jump. I don't get the reason to have it as its own ability.

    -Having 2 Spineshatter Dives makes our bursts feel clunky with how often our jumps immobilize us (High Jump, 2x Spineshatter Dive, Dragonfire Dive, Stardiver). Get rid of Spineshatter dive and replace it with some other ability. We already have Elusive Jump for a movement option anyway.

    Aside from these two points, DRG feels great to play to me.

    I've explained in this thread why MD is important. See here and here.

    In order to remove it, several changes would have to be implemented. It's not as simple as just making HJ give eyes.

    I read your posts and I'm still not too certain about the benefits you speak of. Maybe I'm too anchored in my ways of doing GSK,1 gcd, HJ+Mirage to understand the nuances of having a 15s delay window on eyes.

    Still though, I hope they change Spineshatter Dive for some other more fun/satisfying OGCD in the future.

    It's not only the 15s delay but the ability to choose whether to do a double life, do HJ > GSK or use HJ first with two eyes and hold the MD till you enter life. It's more of an encounter-specific scenario. In full uptime situations, you can just follow the order and it works but not all fights are like this.

    P2S, P3S, P5S, P8-2S, DSR... and even dungeons require doing HJ first for different purposes. It was even necessary in P1S with very fast killtimes or otherwise you'd lose a STD and 1/2 NAS at the very end of the fight.

    Removing MD without making specific changes makes LotD way less flexible.

    How is it useful to HJ>GSK>MD in P5S? As I recall, I don't think Devour disrupts our LotD timings at all. I'll be checking your fflog timeline when I get home tonight so I can see an example.

    I have not optimized the fight enough yet and I'm kinda just going with the flow for now because it's kind of an annoying fight and it'll die way quicker down the line, but this boss is like P2S where you switch to HJ > GSK at some point (I'm doing this from the opener) to do a double life before devour. People are throwing ideas in the P5S encounter thread in the Balance in case you wanna check that out.

    Since the downtime lasts way longer than Kampeos Harma did, if you enter LotD just before devour, you'll have to instantly use the 2nd NAS, which then makes the 3rd and STD too tight to use before buffs without much clipping or drifting, so it's just way comfier to go the double life route.
