    Job DPS differences

    If there is one thing that happens a lot in FFXIV, it is the difference in job balancing. This difference is not important for the casual content of the game, so many people don't care about it. But when we talk about Savage and Ultimate, many jobs are left out and suffer gate keeping because the statics know that certain jobs will make it difficult to pass the dps check of the fight. Sometimes this difference is as much as 10%. An example often talked about by everyone in the community is Paladin compared to the other tanks. Or Reaper compared to Ninja and Monk.

    Anyway, this introduction was to try to demonstrate that it is a very annoying situation the fact that people can't use their favorite classes, because they are not as optimized as other classes for hardcore content, which makes the community do gate keeping with them when they form groups / statics. Ultimately, then, forcing these people to play with a job they don't like much just because this job does more DPS.

    Why can't most jobs be balanced in damage dealt to a point where the only difference between them would be really the job skills (support, damage buffs, utility, etc)? Also, I'm not putting all jobs in the same group, of course. I'm saying they should balance the damage between the job groups internally, so Tanks would deal more or so the same damage among them, same for DPS and then Healers.

    The only time that matters is speed clears and maybe world first. No statics I know of care that much about individual job performance as long as the player is good enough.

    On their own the dps jobs are very close within their respective classes. Machinist is mostly suffering from alignment issues in DSR and really only there, those are more difficult to iron out without making the jobs literally the same.

    the mythical "balance"

    people often play their favourite jobs, so I am unsure why you say they cannot use them. not everyone is a number crunching min/maxxer that has to always top the DPS charts. I am sure some in the community require tops, thats not as many as you are implying.

    most of the statics I know, require that you know the fight, and know the job you are using. being the ultimate DPS isnt even discussed aside from know you skills, have appropriate gear, do your best. end of story. As Valkyrie said, maybe for speed runs or world firsts, but aside from that.... relax.

    PS. there is little enough unique job identity left.. you are proposing they remove all that remains for the sake of... balance. my vote is no.

    The only people at all effected is like, world prog/week 1 clear people. But even then it's doable week 1 if your job is trailing a little behind. My group did double caster last tier which made the dps check on P4S' door boss pretty rough, but it was very do-able. DSR was weird for certain jobs but I'm pretty sure it's still been cleared on every job.

    This. You list a job that's supposedly the worst in the so called "meta", and my group has cleared fights with them easily. Player skill is what matters the most when it comes to clearing, class makeup of the party does not really matter that much outside of double of the same job.

    They keep the jobs closely balanced. Even since the last Ultimate released, a lot of jobs, especially tanks, had potency buffs. For savage, we had a 1 week advantage to get better gear. The first savage floors are scaled for item level 600 and the last floor is scaled for item level 610, so people will be a higher item level than that by then from loot drops and tomestone upgrades.
