If there is one thing that happens a lot in FFXIV, it is the difference in job balancing. This difference is not important for the casual content of the game, so many people don't care about it. But when we talk about Savage and Ultimate, many jobs are left out and suffer gate keeping because the statics know that certain jobs will make it difficult to pass the dps check of the fight. Sometimes this difference is as much as 10%. An example often talked about by everyone in the community is Paladin compared to the other tanks. Or Reaper compared to Ninja and Monk.
Anyway, this introduction was to try to demonstrate that it is a very annoying situation the fact that people can't use their favorite classes, because they are not as optimized as other classes for hardcore content, which makes the community do gate keeping with them when they form groups / statics. Ultimately, then, forcing these people to play with a job they don't like much just because this job does more DPS.
Why can't most jobs be balanced in damage dealt to a point where the only difference between them would be really the job skills (support, damage buffs, utility, etc)? Also, I'm not putting all jobs in the same group, of course. I'm saying they should balance the damage between the job groups internally, so Tanks would deal more or so the same damage among them, same for DPS and then Healers.
