Could be just a rental chocobo =) though admittedly, I've forgotten what they look like in-game currently.

I'm betting you're right. If you look in the background, those buildings seem to resemble the artwork for the chocobo stables.

That was my initial thought, it does seem a lot like that concept art. Reading through the dev letter they mention a release of a 2.0 site just after E3. I get the impression they are withholding a lot of information until this site launches. As much as I love to have these images and it's great to see. It's not as much as I had in mind since last October when we first heard about 2.0 at E3.
