I would trade it for better gameplay too, but this is irrelevant to this thread. Except if you have the ability to judge gameplay from a screenshot.

As for wanting to have it all, again it's irrelevant. The critic is "worse textures than what we currently have". So we're questioning a possible downgrade, not questioning something we didn't had from the beginning. So maybe we should focus back on the critics instead of mentioning things that have nothing to do with what's been posted?

That put aside, I would like to ask you why are you assuming those screenshots were taken in standard settings? Again, I want a reliable source. If we think about truly logically, they would do like all other companies and present the best settings possible because most people like eye-candies. Unless they stated otherwise. But if that's the case, where is that statement?

The shadows are an upgrade, but everything else looks like a downgrade, and those aetherytes are very ugly. To think S.E. shows a demo on worst settings would be a stretch of the imagination, so I think it's safe to say, they downgraded graphics.

Those aetherytes are subscribed (concept art or artwork) and aren't in any screenshot.

edit: ok, there is one aetherite in one screenshot, but I don't see anything wrong with it from the distance

Really, you see nothing wrong with those tacky green loops? Our current aetheryte design looks way better.
