I think it's a happy medium. Sans serif fonts are generally easier to read but tend to look blocky outside of something like Courier new.
Serif fonts are prettier to look at but harder to focus on.
The comic book text is a good marriage between readable and pretty. Though a font selection would be ideal.
I love everything about it, myself.
But yeah, I can't help but feel that this doesn't deserve a topic considering how customizable the UI will be. Not to mention add-ons and such.

it reminds me a LOT of Vagrant Story.
Anything that reminds me of Vagrant Story is instantly good.

always looking for good people.

I like it myself. Will match my life as a tiny lalafell :B
I like that style. I just dont see the tech-style UI neon thing in this game, but I can live with it. I want to play it on PS3 and I think the UI can sadly only be edited on PC. But nvm I LOVE what I see on these screens/artworks. Want gameplay video ;D

The interface design is from Hiroshi Minagawa (artistic director of Vagrant story, co-director of FF12), so it's normal if it reminds you of these games.
And that's also why it could hardly be more "FF appropriate"

I think Yoshi said in the 2.0 PDFs that the most popular UI add-ons would be make for the PS3 also.
