Portrait System - Can you please just do this?

Essentially you can create several portraits and have a default one that plays on all the time in case you don’t have one set for misc jobs, but if you want to have a different portrait to your default one for a particular job you can just link it to said gearset. That’s it.

And it shows regardless of whatever you are wearing.

Edit: it looks messy as a means to show what you can do, such as renaming the portrait, link to a gear set, assign as default.

I just want to be able to use the portrait of my adventurer pass for instances. I dont care if it does not match the glamour I have on right now or the job. I just want something nice to show without having to do that for every single job or new glamour...if that is not possible in the future that system is dead for me.

I dont want to restrict myself in my glamour just because it would otherwise break my portrait I have chosen for that job...

I support this because atm it is a pain the arse. I would love to do a nice portrait pic and wear whatever and then have it show...I do not need one for each job and to be restricted to having to wear the same outfit for the job if that makes sense. I just want to do a nice picture and then use it all the time.

This. Just automatically update the gear, hair and race. Portrait should be about the pose, background and frame, not a photograph you need to edit every minute.

I think a problem they created for themselves is linking portraits to gearsets instead of jobs. What if you switch out several pieces or the weapon? Is it still the same gearsets? You can still update your "current" gearsets even though you changed jobs with the weapon. I think they should let you select what job uses which portrait and also select a default portrait for all jobs that aren't assigned to a portrait. The portraits themselves should always auto update if you change gear.

Same, the adventurer plates are basically our introduction card/IDs, so they should be our "main" display anyways, and have the alternative portraits as an option for those who do want to create multiple ones based on job or role. The system is backwards.

The image is an odd way to do it, but yeah, it should basically be the exact same system as glamour plates. You could make one for every set if you wanted, or you could take one portrait and link it to multiple sets. If you wanted to stop using it, you could just unlink it to use the default or link a different one to use that instead.

I mean, it goes without saying that this is what everyone was expecting of the per gearset portraits system. I really have no idea what their UX teams are thinking sometimes. Sometimes they make their systems rather simple to use and understand, and sometimes they're just so convoluted and tedious that I don't even want to use them anymore.

I see 99% of people with default portraits in duties because of this. Don't they have some kind of statistics system that shows them that most players have out of date portraits? It should tell them that something is clearly wrong with how it's implemented right now lol

It would be so much better, if portraits could just not care about my current gear or job.
There is no real reason why they have to care in the first place. It's just pictures of my character doing a pose and wearing specific gear.

What good does it do to force me into wearing the portrait's glamour for all eternity, just because I wish the portrait to look a certain way?
