Sad to see some people will go to great lengths to ruin the fun of a fresh tier.

Please Square Enix, in the future, Don't patch the content into the game files until the day of release.

Also, what has been datamined exactly? If it's weapons, mounts, 3d models and debuff descriptions, it's just business as usual and not anything that relevant for World First.

Even if SQEX patch those hours before release, it will be datamined.
That one week delay is amazing and hopefully they'll keep it.

One thing though, the datamine only reveals a part of a puzzle piece. We still lack the half the piece and we don't know what mechanics will be with that piece.
With those we can only make baseless conjectures.


Thought I do agree at least the assets shouldn't be in game and only downloaded close to release.
Some mobile games only download the assets when they're needed, obviously it's not possible in real time with FF XIV because some people still have very bad internet connections.
One thing they could do is trigger the download ingame when you enter the content, if it respect the release date. All missing assets could be replaced with a placeholder.

It could also helps with the game total size as many content from previous expansions aren't really used today.

All the extra fight related things (mechanics icons, abilities, boss animations, everything) that is not in normal mode.

That might be possible in part if there is some ability and animation data but the rotation of the casts and the way they are used is information held on the server.

I've only been here since Shadowbringers, but all final floor extra phases for Eden got datamined before the patch got live. And that was before the one week delay.
And no, not everything. Most information about the fight are not on the client.
We can't know which of the icons are related to which floor too, same for the casts etc.

Would love to see them delay savage release for a month out of spite for the dataminers, and just say if it happens again, no more savage.

people are excited/interested for whats to come and even if there was a "bedrock" to stop people wouldn't take long before people cracked it anyway.
