So, I'm fishing for this right? I got the book used it, but when I go to my gathering log it doesn't show anything is there. Worst part is it's not showing up for me when I fish for it! I'm level 90 ilvl 530 I have most of the new gathering gear, but I still can't catch it. Am I doing something wrong? I don't understand how when I look in the gather logs under the folklore tab there's nothing for the book I bought.

EDIT: Sooo the book worked, I can gather things using BTN...so maybe I'm just not being patient enough or something lol

Well, you should be using ilvl 560 gear at the minimum by now. Second ,it's probably a bait issue. Try using Mackerel Strips or the Versatile Lure (I recommend Mackerel Strips since you can catch Basilosaurus in the same area under certain weather conditions).

Oh okay well I'll fix that. That's the bait I'm using too

It has a fairly good drop rate when you use the Mackerel Strips so if you continue to have problems catching it, your Gathering stat is probably too low. There is no weather condition for it.

BTN, MIN, and FSH all have separate unique books. So the BTN book won't get you MIN or FSH items, for example.

Also as others have said you'd want to use Mackerel Strip for Calamari. If you're still struggling, I have a short guide on optimal catching here!
