No one escapes the Gold Loxx w/o da haxxoringz!

Top players: “Come on guys, we need a deranking system to combat the cheaters and filter out those with no skills.”
Majority players: “Nah, we don’t need that. It’ll make the game worse for everyone. Doesn’t solve the cheating problem mind you.”
Yoshi and devs: “With our data, for now on…de-ranking and new system combating cheaters…..also full rank reset.”
Majority players: “………..Why? This will be horrible. Nothing good will come from this!”
Top players: “You don’t know what you’re talking about. This will be a great system. It’ll filter out the good and the bad.”
……..1 week later
Top players: “Maybe we shouldn’t demand for this change.”
Majority players: “You think?! The content is worse now.”
A bit too early to call the changes bad, the first Crystal games happened like yesterday on most data centers.
What you see is a lot of people complaining about not being able to go through the Gold wall, which is to be expected. Not too happy myself about everyone being brought down to Bronze, but it's just a temporary elo hell. The "real" Crystal players will climb out. The only changes most people have seen is a bigger player pool from Unranked to Gold, not the demotion.
About the cheating, I think people don't realize that PVP players can spot it when there's any. That speedhacking video in the other post was not some shocking revelation. The Aether PVP community knew for a few days that this person was cheating, they have been reported and now we are almost taking bets if they'll make it to Crystal before SE bans them (if they do). As for wintrading, do people really don't think we can spot 2 players with the same class where one is AFK and the other one is performing well ? Plus, with the changes to refusing ranked queues, it probably discourages people from even trying.
Let's wait a bit to see if the Crystal players are happy about the changes when there's a healthy pool of players at the higher ranks. I have a feeling they are mostly going to be with the occasional rager that goes from Crystal to Platinum.

It’s one of those things where you have to go outside of the chats now that the in-game is monitored…can’t say the things you could say and forums being monitored..can’t say the things you could say. You COULD say what you wanted, but we’re in an age that ppls feelings are very fragile.
Well the chat I monitor is pretty much the biggest PvP Discord and I see nobody complain about demotion so farIt’s one of those things where you have to go outside of the chats now that the in-game is monitored…can’t say the things you could say and forums being monitored..can’t say the things you could say. If we did have the ability to say what we could say about the content. It would’ve been loaded in-game and forums, but we don’t so we’re in a certain limitation situation. Even to where we’re telling ourselves that we have to respond “nicely” to get feedback.
Gordongeeko, I was really expecting platinum to be the roadblock, not gold so…….I expect them to announce a change soon. Cause if they don’t, it’s not going to end well with this overhaul PvP.
The problem is everyone got Diamond/Crystal for free last season, when CC was new so everyone was bad, demotion wasn't possible, and you could luck your way up the ranks with winstreaks. So now all of a sudden, when people actually have to play well to rank up, and the top ranks are reserved for the top players (what a crazy idea!), something must be wrong, right?
Sorry to those who got a taste of Diamond last season because SE doesn't know how to make a proper ranked ladder, but typically the only people to get that high are the top 5-10%, the people who have played 1000s of hours of similar PvP games. (It's not really a badge of honor, but tryhards be trying REALLY hard is all I'm saying.) And yet, some people who have never played a ranked PvP game in their life are they're expecting to get to Plat+ in a week... and like, that's just not how it works.
I'm really not trying to be insulting or elitist here. Just trying to address the false expectations that SE created in the first season. Everyone has to start somewhere, and naturally they're gonna be confused about what good or bad players even look like. So I don't even blame people for being frustrated at their teammates, or looking at damage-dealt/deaths as the only important metrics on the scoreboard. My advice? Just keep playing, try to learn something every match, and focus more on the overall pace of the match rather than individual kills or standing on the crystal 100% of the time (there's a good time for each of those, but it isn't ALL the time.) And watch out for who has LB ready.
Despite trying to be reasonable up to this point, I'm not a saint. So I admit, I am also laughing at the entitled and whiny people who come onto public forums and post every excuse imaginable for why they can't climb, and call the game mode dead in the first week, rather than facing the simple fact they they aren't good at the gamemode (despite playing it for a whopping 40 hours, wow, such dedication). The lack of awareness is astonishing.

I think that everyone is just thrown off about there being a hard reset. (I know I am.) It's just a natural headache that's going to last for a few weeks, everyone starting at bronze, and everyone trying to climb out of bronze all at once.
Let's not hard reset everyone next season.
