People who say "first time" in new content

Why? What compels you to say something so obvious? I genuinely don't understand.

If you're referring to the duty itself notifying players that one or more players are new to the instance, it does not tell you which player(s) are new. A sprout icon also does not indicate that the player is new to the instance. I really don't know how it is so "obvious" until a player mentions that they are new.

I typically say it if I am healing it simply because, it warns the tank, who may have done it already, I may not be expecting some mechanics. same if I am running a dps, so the healer knows I am likely going to die lol.

I just consider it polite so people arent expecting flawless play since... its my first time. simple as that. I am not wanting to be carried, just to advise I may make mistakes. I also dont bomb the content as it comes out, but may get to it in the first week, by which time, many have gone through several times. in my mind... it is common courtesy to fellow players. be nice if more people tried that personally

I took up Tanking this year, and even if I have played the Dungeon 100 times as DPS I will tell the party if its my first time Tanking said instance, or Healing as I have started doing that now. Like you say, it feels polite and helps ease the initial anxiety of doing the content with different responsibility haha.

It's usually a common courtesy to let people know that one is new to any piece of content. Don't see what the problem is there. As a tank main it's good information for people to have, whether it's on my own behalf or someone else's. If it's obvious, that's fine, but not everyone is always paying attention. My goal is to make it more obvious. I'd want to know if my tank or healer was new, so I'd know to expect a mistake or two. Nothing wrong with mistakes, but they can be compensated for a bit if they are predicted to happen.

Ah yeah when the content is just out and people say first time it feels well….obvious, we are all here for the first time so I understand what you mean. I think people still say it as a way to let you know they haven’t watched/read a guide either.

When I load in and someone is viewing the full cutscene that's when I think it obvious that they are new to the duty. Yes, it's not technically required to skip the cutscene after having seen it before but I assume the vast majority of people will do so.

Often times my gear is out of date, and I am so late to the content I don't want to be a detriment to the group, so I just don't do it at all. My WHM right now is severely undergeared even, and I am currently questioning if I should even do the latest raids next week.
