This.... this is HERESY. There's literally no other word for it.
You actually went there. You compared ENDWALKER..... to Assassin's Creed.

Then again, knowing some of the posters on here you're gonna claim Endwalker was BETTER than Assassin's Creed.... AREN'T YOU?

Alphinaud being given Fourchenault's old sage weapons is more of an establishing moment for his parents' characters rather than being about him. It builds the impression of Ameliance as a practical sort of person acting on her own opinions, and indicates that for all his present bureaucratic stuffiness Fourchenault has some history working as a medic.
Speaking of "being handed things", Aveyond have you forgotten WHO it was that was financing the Scions from day one? Where he got the coin for all of his earlier gear?
*sigh*
I think that the fundamental writing of both of them didn't do much to help the twins stand out on their own. How am I supposed to feel bad for two kids who are infinitely rich, get everything handed to them and routinely cheat death? Having their mom be written this way and to not suffer at all during Endwalker only made the whole "forge ahead" message even more out of place and I maintain that they should've gone the full blown antagonist route with their dad instead of making up in the end.Alphinaud being given Fourchenault's old sage weapons is more of an establishing moment for his parents' characters rather than being about him. Too much of a power fantasy, not enough protagonist-sided losses or setbacks. I was served "feels" instead of a tale of loss, fire, and faith surrounding the twins in Endwalker and I will continue to highlight this issue in the writing because I don't think it was in the best interest of the story or these characters.

I wasnt aware their being "rich" had anything to do with their character at all. Alphinaud has earned his own way, is his own man, who his father or mother is has no consequence on the battlefield, nor in his dealings with the Alliance. The ties the Scions have with the nation states has to do with his innate skill as a diplomat and a negotiator..he has EARNED the respect of all of them. Alone. His intent to sacrifice himself for Estinien ( those orbs were HUGELY powerful ) his deeds in saving that man have earned him the respect of Ser Aymeric and Ishgard. How am I supposed to feel bad for two kids who are infinitely rich, get everything handed to them and routinely cheat death?
"All handed to them" I ask again, up until we learned this from his mother, we had ZERO idea where the coin was coming from to finance the Scions, as far as we knew, Tataru was the financial genius. the TWINS didnt have a clue their mother was even involved.
Hell, her husband CERTAINLY didnt know what she had been doing. Thats a fifth level wife skill, trust me, Ive seen it in action
His mother got them new clothes ( mothers have a tendency to do that at any age , you know? Mine does still and Im 60 now. Its what mothers DO...) , and as they were heading into battle, passed down his father's nouliths, father to son, carrying on a tradition. Its akin to a mother handing her son a tried, tested, tempered blade on the eve of battle.
"This was your father's. Fight well." I see no problems here.
BTW just for curiosity's sake :
Thats the second or third time the word "rich" has appeared in your posts, and Im wondering why that is? Why also are you singling him out and not Alisae? Look at G'raha, a descendant of a royal line. Look at Urianger, also an Archon of Sharlayan..odd how you dont go into their "socioeconomic status" .
Why is that?
Since WHEN was Ameliance EVER meant to be in the line of fire? You are LITERALLY making no sense here.Having their mom be written this way and to not suffer at all during Endwalker only made the whole "forge ahead" message even more out of place
Why? To what end? How would this have achieved any meaningful effect?I maintain that they should've gone the full blown antagonist route with their dad instead of making up in the end.
And your solution is.....?I will continue to highlight this issue in the writing because I don't think it was in the best interest of the story or these characters.
I was served both. You sure you got the right menu? Yours had the mega Big Mac in it though............I was served "feels" instead of a tale of loss, fire, and faith surrounding the twins in Endwalker![]()

No, I compared a facet of Endwalker with a facet of ACII. And in the case of Alphinaud, he was a bit better qualified to take the gear because he had already practiced as a healer and Ezio was still a hot-headed youth at that time who hadn't met Paola or started training with Mario.crickets chirping

I also enjoyed Endwalker, but I'm a huge AC fan, which is why my thoughts went to that particular comparison, and the story in ACII I hold in higher regard. So no, I would never say Endwalker was better than Assassin's Creed. Unless you're talking Odyssey.
Even so it does nothing to change the fact that her giving him that gear in that scene was more akin to a storybook scene where a mom dresses her kids for school and packs their lunch compared to...what I expected of an expansion about the apocalypse. It didn't do his character any favors by making him even more pampered and it didn't fit the story that we should've gotten.
