People intentionally not rolling for 5 minutes

    Hai.

So I noticed something, when doing some raids, and alliance raids, sometimes even dungeons, there're people who intentionally dont roll after run's over.

they just stand there for 5 minutes and roll within last 10 seconds or so.

I confronted a person about it and they said if they wait some people leave the group and they get bigger chance to obtain items.

is this griefing? is it reportable?

Not likely. But what you could do is roll and then if people aren't appearing to roll in what is usually the average time say:

"I've rolled going AFK for a few while I wait to see if I won"

Then just wait and see. Those trying to get people to be impatient and leave will suddenly be told that that won't work and they'll likely just roll to not waste their time.

I just make my rolls and then go get a drink. Maybe do a dance while I wait.

When there is a delay in completing the loot rolls, and I care, I'll wander back into the dungeon when that's possible, and check out the scenery -- some of it is pretty cool. That seems to make the point better than words could.

That or they'll call your bluff.

If you really do go afk or if you tab out and do something else then there's nothing they can really do and it doesn't matter. It's rarely worth it though.

It's nothing new. it's always the way.. ever since 3.0

you can only win one drop per week so people wait untill all the crap they dont want has been won. which then means all those people cant win the item they do want..

So what happens is timmy goes into a raid and wants the leg piece... he won't roll on the leg piece untill the other bits have been won..
jimmy however wants the body and wont roll untill everything else has been won..
molly wants the hants and wont roll until everything else has been won...

and thus everyone is stuck waiting for the whole 5 minutes..

they did up it so in theory everyone can win something. 8 drops 8 people.. but thats useless when 5 of them want the body and 3 want the legs.. the other 6 drops often go discarded or at keast some of them do.

then you get people who will pass everything they dont want. roll on the primary thing they want, but wont roll on the secondary thing they want unless they lose the primary roll.. if waiting 5 minutes means you dont have to run the content again its often seen as worth it..

It might take a minute or so in raids/alliance raids when they're new since you only get one piece of gear, so people will roll piecemeal prioritizing stuff they want.

No and no. Time limit exists for a reason, if SE wanted it shorter they'd make it shorter.

Best response is [Roll for loot, please] auto translate and alt tab or just step away .

This is why I say: Let's not waste anyone's time folks, say what you're looking for so we can either roll on it or pass on it.

    or

"I'm just here for X Item, if you all could roll or pass on it, I'd appreciate it."

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

And what do you lose if they call your bluff vs saying nothing? It's not like that's going to shorten the timer.

Yeah I noticed that too, but its more common when drops include cosmetics like cards, mounts, pets, and scrolls. only had 1 similar experience with gear but tons of it with cosmetics
