Does anyone else think the new portrait system is janky?

I do not like how it works now, I wasn't a fan of the portrait resetting before. I should simply be able to create a profile pic I can apply to everything across the board, and perhaps if I have multiple profile pics I want, create them, and then individually link them to the gearset I want it associated with.

It should also just stay saved, as is, until I change it. I remember the pvp portrait always reset so I stopped caring. It was a lot of maintenance. As of now I did my adventurer plate but it will be the stock photo for everything else. Too cumbersome. Even though I like the concept and actually want it applied across the board to all instanced content. But not like this, the implementation isnt good.

Unpopular opinion: I actually prefer the new system but then again, I only actively play RDM (I'm sure it's annoying for people who play many jobs).
And I absolutely LOVE that the one in my plate is separate from the rest because I had a separate portrait just for the plate even before the update, lol.

Yeah but the current system is still too complicated and or buggy and even worse restrictive. I expected from the info they gave prior to patch launch that we can link any portrait to any gear set and it'll automatically set that for both your plate and got PvP.

But now it's just this weird buggy mess, I swear I tried to understand how this works but even when I do it still doesn't do what I want it to do. It's very frustrating.

Question for those who have been playing with it: If I adjust the portraits for all the various jobs, that's not going to override my adventurer plate picture, right?

Also, are the portraits really only for PvP matches?

You go to the portrait section and create one from there and supposedly that portrait auto links to your current gear set and there's a button on the lower right that allows you to toggle on and off as Instance portrait. But it's currently bugged? As it keeps reverting back to default when you do CC at least that's what kept happening to me.

Indeed, It's showing the portrait that I had created but when I start the match it shows what I'm currently wearing as my portrait even though I had saved it before.

EDIT: Never mind what I just said it is working in that sense with instant portraits.

After tinkering with it I agree there should be a choice to save multple portraits that can then be applied to the current job or jobs that you're on. Or saved for use later on regardless what job your on or what your doing i.e. doing portrait for reg play and then doing CC.

I want to say, for all our criticism, while portraits are still a lot of room for improvement, adventurer plates are great. Really close to where it needs to be; just letting us copying our portraits to it and vice versa are the only staples I think are missing.

I think some of it is odd. Like maybe something like active hours can be replaced with something more useful to how that specific user enjoys the game, like their housing information.

Indeed, I still enjoy and love the plates themselves and how customizable they are now; just need to have a few more things such as being able to use all emotes that we've unlocked and toggling weapon/armor effects on and off (or this being a thing in general lol).

It's just the overall usability of it that seriously needs another rework.

I love the fact that theoretically when changing jobs now, it will no loner just revert back to the default un-customized plate, meaning you won't have to reapply your instant portrait every time you change. But it resets anyway! It's unfortunate but I look forward to this bug(?) being fixed.
