Yeah it needs more time in the oven, the system is weird now.

This is pretty much my take as well. I don't want to attempt recreating my current plate, so I'll just not be making a new one....which kinda sucks. It was nice being able to save several portraits and mix it up when the mood hit, but that's no moreI like the idea of gearset linking for the instant portraits but they ruined the functionality for adventurer plates when they added it. Being able to switch between different adventurer plate portraits was great! Now that I can't save the one I use on my adventurer plate when I want to be silly I will never bother changing it, because I suck at posing my character and it's frustrating to have to overwrite the one I was using before each time. A blend of the old system and the new one would be much appreciated, so that people can choose how they want to use it.![]()

Yeah, I want to know what they were thinking with the update to this system. It really takes it a few steps backwards, which is a shame. The first iteration had potential, and now I want nothing to do with it.
Yeah, it's a huge downgrade, at least for portraits you have the import feature, but them being tied to gear sets is just weird.
I like that you can easily click reflect gear on the Adventurer Plate, but they should really implement a way to import into the AP portrait otherwise the whole system feels kinda pointless.

And Mahjong, but barely anyone plays that. From what I've seen, and I checked lots cause I was going crazy, no you can't copy, and you can't apply/detatch from gearsets. The portrait system itself and the adventurer plate portrait seem to be two completely separate systems now wiht no connection. And if I'm wrong I'd be suepr happy to be corrected and enlightened. I honestly have no clue what even is the function of Portrait now, I guess just for CC matches?![]()
Mortal Fist
It seems obscenely limiting and shortsighted to have made it 1 per job, instead of per glamour plate.
On a separate note, the glamour displayed in the portrait editor is not the same as the glamour I'm actually wearing. It's the glamour I was wearing a couple days ago. Either the system is broken, or it's tied to the armory(which would be really messed up).
Edit: Confirmed, changing glamour DOES NOT change the glamour displayed in the portrait editor.
Edit2: Updating the actual gearset after changing glamour forces it to update, but you would need to do this each time you change glamours if you wanted the portrait to remain the same as the glamour your character is wearing. On the plus side, this effectively allows you to pick and choose which glamour you want to represent each job regardless of which you are actually wearing.

Yeah, it’s just for the instant portrait before CC, dungeons, and mah jong, as far as we know for now. But the thing is, while I play CC a lot, I loved changing my IP around between matches, and now I can’t do that without having multiple duplicate gear sets. From what I've seen, and I checked lots cause I was going crazy, no you can't copy, and you can't apply/detatch from gearsets. It's very clunky now for sure
I don't know why they decided to make it more confusing than before, but that's square enix for you. They don't like it unless it's over complicated

If I recall, Yoshi-p mentioned that they would expand the amount of portraits we could have at a later patch to like 100, since we were limited to only 20 before. Why they would completely move away from that and take this route is baffling...
