    ff14 raid terminology

Hi. I'm new to ff14 raiding (not new to raiding in general) and I'm seeing terms thrown around that I have no idea what for.. in WoW.. if you so much as slightly shown ignorance of something, you're auto-assumed to be incompetent. I can't link them my WoW progress. It's irrelevant, but this game is too easy for me to just pretend I can't do something better than normals. Can anybody tell me what is

    AQB
    mario kart
(ok i learned what enum means) but they say 1/3 enum for the storm's crown extreme... the moment i'd join, i'll be expected to know what that strategy is supposed to mean)
    c41
    color partners

    (i mean wtf lol)

is there a glossary of terms? I almost completed storm's crown ex on day one after going through several practice groups. The problem with those is they don't stick together long enough to actually get it done. Somebody gets an issue with somebody else and leaves, then everyone else instantly follows. Pretty toxic, imo, BUT... for me to join groups that are stated as "let's complete this" then I need to know these terms or I will not be taken as a serious addition to the group, seeing as how I'll instantly show ignorance of previous ff14 fights, when in fact, i have excitedly shown to myself and to some others that I can, in fact, do this (who can't?). I just don't know what they're talking about when they post gibberish and then readycheck right after.

Never heard those terms before, I suspect they're specific to a certain individual raid ("Mario Kart" might refer to the Eden version of Titan, due to his form taking on literally Titan riding a go-kart in it - it's a long story). It's the sort of things that just comes with experience.

Gamerescape's FFXIV page has an unofficial guide to commonly used player terminology including raid terms, so that might be worth a look.

A lot of mechanics get re-used and a lot of the time, people refer them by what they were called in the fight they first appeared.

There are youtube guides released for new extreme and savage raids and Party Finder will usually reference the name of the content creator who is regarded to have "come up" with a strategy, so that you can search youtube for their channel and watch it. If they don't mention a content creator, try googling the strategy or the fight name.

The most popular guide makers since the game started have been
    https://www.youtube.com/c/Xehanort1227/videos
    https://www.youtube.com/c/MTQcapture/videos

But there are lots of others now.

There are some tags to watch for.

[Practice] means people are expecting to die and learn. They are not necessarily expecting to clear so they are usually chill. But read the description to see which phase they want you to be comfortable getting to.
[Duty Completion] means they expect to clear, even if it takes a few pulls. These are usually parties that have seen the enrage cast or are getting a clear on an alt.
[Duty Complete] prevents you from joining if you haven't cleared, so it's implied that they expect you to be good at the fight. If you still aren't very good at it after clearing it might be wise to try a Practice or Duty Completion party until you are.

I don't know if anyone has put together a proper guide on all of the terminology but I will try to link things related to terminology.

C41 means "clear for one". The "one" is usually themselves or a friend and they want people who have cleared to help them clear.
Color Partners means there are 4 number markers (1, 2, 3, 4) and 4 letter markers (A, B, C, D). 1 and A is red, 2 and B is yellow, 3 and C is blue and 4 and D is purple. If you are assigned to 1 and someone else is assigned to A, then the person at A is your partner.

Mario Kart is a term I heard as far back as second coil. I'm not sure what reason the community started using this term, but any strategy named "Kart" refers to a mechanic that the intended function seems to be a controlled scatter, but you instead choose to run as a group. I.e. if you need to bait meteors in different places you could have assigned clock positions, or you could just stack up and run in a circle as a group instead.

this has cleared up so much for me and tonight i joined an fc group that needed a caster dps and we stuck with it and progressed. almost got to final phase but ready to go again. added them, and now that experience being in discord and not having to otherwise use instinct to move around with random practice groups.. plus this post, has cleared up a lot for me. thank you all

Most of the terms come from the original activities or the person who came up with the strategy.

    Donut = Nael Donut.
    Exoflare - Moving flares

Most of the terms are just widespread these days, you will see things in the new EX macros like "Playstation" which literally just means playstation symbolts above heads, spread like a PlayStation controller layout for the Triangle, Circle, X and Square.
The Japanese macros tend to change a lot over the course of the first week and settle on a final 'Pug easy' design and most people just use those.

mariokart is just running around the room as a group
C41 is "Clear for One" aka one person getting carried
Color partners is just swap with your marker color partner (A and 1 are both red for example)

most of its just old names re-used over and over again.

Standard marker layout I assume is red yellow blue purple going clockwise, starting north with A then 1 and so forth.

    AQB I havent heard before.
Mario kart means stacking during her dashes and rotating as a group to bait dashes and puddles.
Enum 13 or 24 means players without marker or with enum meet there during tangled phases.
C41 is likely marker positions for the 2x Flare Buster (4+1) and 1x stack (c). It forms a triangle between the markers.
Same colour enum partners means to do enum with your partner of same colour of marker from their spread position. (A1, B2, etc)

Generally the older term for doughnut also from nael is dynamo, chariot is point blank and dynamo is doughnut

But they seem to have fallen out of favour more recently except when discussing fights that nael is actually in
