    This is a myth.

I can understand why players were afraid demand would drop, but Classical gear actually crashed in price much faster than the current set. DoH, DoL materia and gear has been a goldmine too. It's been a great patch for raking in gil.

I think the misconception is the idea that only sweaty hardcore savage raiders buy gear. Casual players actually can't get enough of the stuff. Players just like shiny gear, they don't care if they don't need it for the content they're running, they want it, they like bigger numbers and higher ilv. The greater bulk of the gear market has always been casuals.

On topic, the Savage delay has been great. I'm enjoying a relaxed week, EX is fun, it's nice to get to craft a bit and I'm just looking more forward to the current tier. Best change they've made in a while.

Please continue to delay savage in future expansions. This change has been very nice and I don't feel rushed to get everything done. My static has actually been able to do normal modes and Extreme together instead of every man for themselves on savage rush.

    Double thumbs up.

Economy being a bit cooler is about the only downside. Greatly appreciate the 1 week delay, had plenty of time to do what needed to be done with less time to play.

I hope SE will handle savage this way for each patch from now on. Rushing through content and trying to get crafted gear on day 1 is miserable and a quick way to lose a lot of gil... or a lot of sanity. With this current patch I was able to get through the story relaxed, clear the ex a few times and be able to spend time on the new island... while also gathering materials and crafting the new gear for my mains. Amazing change in my opinion.

I'm not a raider, the hardest content I do is Extreme and Unreal, however.. One person in my friend group is a raider and I have to say, its been really really nice to actually be able to play the patch content with him, do the raids with him and talk about the new msq with him during this first week.. the alternative usually being for the first week of patch, he and his static plow through the normal raid stories and spend every day of the first week progging in the raids, and the others in our group never actually get to really play with him during the first week.

So.. I also enjoy these changes and hope that they continue like this going forward as well.

I hesitated posting this, but it does seem like one of the big downsides to the delay is the ability for the savage mechanics to be datamined. Speaking from a software developer perspective, one change I would recommend being made is that anything savage related be delayed client side until the patch that opens up savage. Like I said in my OP, I'm not a WF or even pushing for week 1 clears, so I'll more than likely see the mechanics while watching streams / guides, but it will impact those who do. I know Yoshi-P has been very against the datamining before, so I could see this potentially something he will definitely want to consider going forward.

In WoW they have the ability to encrypt assets to prevent people from datamining them before the devs are ready to reveal them. This is often done on test servers when they have big story moments they don't want to spoil, and was also used on the 3rd Shadowlands raid (Sepulcher of the First Ones) to hide the last 3 bosses until the official opening of the raid.

In FF14 Square-Enix could simply encrypt the savage raids, and when it's time for them to open, automatically send out and apply the decryption keys (Probably a <1 kb download).

They've literally delayed Savage during each expansion launch, so they have zero excuses on why they couldn't even manage to do whatever they did for that.. here.
Hell, they release Normal Raids 2 weeks into the expansion and then Savage 2 weeks after that.

This whole datamining BS is on Square Enix.
They're communicating with the WoW dev team, they play other video games, hell they're on the internet, there was no reason for them to not see this coming, and not have this Savage release be as if it's on expansion launch.

The delay is good but it might be better to have savage as a separate patch next time, since it seems like the details of savage, the mount, the songs, etc, have already been datamined and spread around to players.

99.9% of the player base doesn't give a damn about datamining or world first runs.
