You know, that thing that use to go hand in hand with video games? Again, i'm you know whating against the wind, bring in the nerfs and bigger burst window~!
But does it really? Dungeons are mostly aoe spam and stupid easy anyways so its not like it matters and in EX/Savage etc... everyone at that point is obviously aware of positionals and know what their tooltips are and is just popping true north anyways when a mechanic arrives that prevents them from doing the positional. Heck, half the time I can get the positional off before a mechanic and I just pop true north anyways because it has 2 charges and is on such a short CD that the consequences of it is basically zero. So again, what exactly does it bring to the game? Its there, it exists, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really bring any value to combat or boss mechanic design and I don't really see any skill involvement from it. Its probably the furthest thing from a test of skill. Playing BLM and maintaining enochian timer in a heavy movement fight is a true test of skill. Positionals though? Meh.

I suppose it depends on what job you play in savage. MNK you could argue had a level of skill keeping positionals up pre EW, but at the same time eh, not really because they had riddle and true north. I've been doing savage as SAM since forever and honestly the positional requirements are whatever. There's very few mechanics that prevent me from doing them and when they do crop up I literally ALWAYS have a charge of true north available. Again, positinals are completely whatever to me. I don't really see any value to them. The only time positonals are slightly annoying to me is on DRG, but I also think the wheeling thrust/fang and claw is weirdly tacked on and pointless anyways, especially now that they don't involve activating heavens thrust if you miss a positional.

Also, have you done savage? Where exactly are you figuring out where to stand? The majority of the fights the entire party literally stands directly behind the boss and then moves out for mechanics. There's not a whole lot of "figuring out" there.

As I said before. I really don't care if they stay or go, they really cause no barrier to me. I just personally don't believe they add any meaning or value to the game. They just kinda exist and are completely whatever.

Positionals are that kind of thing that they made too easy so it doesn't really feel you have to deal with them so instead of making them feel better or be more relevant they are gonna delete them and add literally nothing in return.

Can we just replace the “have you heard of the critically acclaimed” meme copypasta with this quote because this could describe every mechanic ever introduced in this game

Should just get rid of them. Its heavily outdated and they have trimmed them down to just two positionals and at this point its just annoying. However the question is what would they replace them with? If anything they could come up with something to make the job gauge more interesting.

Should double back down on them, make them like they used to be in ARR/HW where missing them is a huge detriment. I remember the good old days on DRG when missing positionals on impulse drive or disembowel would scrap the whole combo.

But they should also add a sound effect or visual for when you hit the positional so you know it counted.

You know, people are crying about positionals but what about ninjitsu? Perhaps we just just scrap that as well and turn them into regular combos? I say go for it!

I see what you're saying and respect where you're going. Hear me out though, what if we could import our NFTs over ninjutsus.

I would be nice if we removed gameplay entirely. That way nobody has something they enjoy in the game except standing in Limsa all day with their bought Ultimate titles and weapons and the game could just play itself like a lot of the mobile mmo's do

Positionals are good. You want to have mechanics that allow for room to improve so you can always feel like there is something new to master, without making them necessary for success.
That is why it was a good reason to make positionals less important, but you shouldn't remove them. And I doubt they will, considering Reaper was built around them in a simple, basic way.
