    The real question is, would they be able to fill the gap left by positionals once removed? My guess would be no, looking at tanks, healer stances and recent changes such as Kaiten removal. If it isnt broke, dont fix it.

    I think they should remove them and just lower the potency of skills that previously used positionals; then give 'utility' classes an increase to the party buffs to compensate.

    I can hear it now;

    "taking positionals away is dumbing down the game! They're just streamlining and catering to casuals!!!!!"

    Oh no its really important from which direction im hitting this abomination of nature xD

    Yes i never liked em and it prevents me from playing melee even more, as i know im messing up too much.

    I do get its satisfying for some, yes, but you cant have melee with and without it as you could never balance that...

    Positional are one of those things that I don’t like but I’m willing to hold onto them as any vestige of complexity left in the games job systems

    Healer and tank stances, physical ranged utility and casts, non damage up utility, the jobs just get pared down further and further every expansion, I’d much rather positionals stay to retain complexity in classes since square seems to have no interest in adding back any sort of interesting complexity

    I don't really think I would. I still do them out of habit when I play MNK, but honestly I don't really think they add anything to the game. Its just something I do subconsciously and when there's a mechanic that prevents me from doing them I just pop true north. The concept imo has ran its course and the dev team seems acutely aware of that as they have been reducing the amount of positional's in the game by quite a bit since the launch of ARR.

    Positionals have nothing to do with that. Melee do more damage than physical ranged due to the concept of uptime. A physical ranged job can basically have 100% uptime, thus their damage output is calculated based on that fact.

    A lot of fights have mechanics that take positionals into account, but you don't really lose uptime and true north just outright negates the potency loss. Without positionals they could focus more on mechanics that push melee away from the boss and create uptime issues for them the same way they create mechanics that force casters to move and disrupt their uptime. Its all about efficiency and finding the best solution to keep up your uptime on the boss and imo positionals don't really add anything to that front other than managing your 2 stacks of true north that are on pretty short CD's.

    I agree with this. P2S was such an interesting fight and it was really nice not having to deal with positionals. I even did a few clears on my DRG on that fight which was a ton of fun.

    They were good years ago but the more we progress the less there positionnals there are and the less valuable they are.
    On top of that, what's the point of positionnals if bosses have a full circle?
    What's the point of positionnals when you can pop true north when you have the slightest difficulty to get one?

    If anything, positionnals are a way for melees to greed.
    Months ago I would have disagreed but they're barely worth anything.

    Positionnals just feel bad if you don't hit them.

    Positionals should be based on the boss we’re fighting. Like a boss who weak point is his hip. Other than that too many positionals is a turn off to play. Monk and reaper are cool classes but I don’t enjoy stressing out max DPS due to positionals. I remember feeling the anxiety of trying to max the DPS and it’s not fun. With both classes I fell more focused on where I’m standing and looking at the buttons to press. I end up missing the fight mechanics. Overall playing monk and reaper is stressful
