First we lost complexity in SB. Then we lost even more complexity in SHB. And in EW we lost even more complexity + now ppl want to take away positionals? This was hilarious in SHB already but now its just sad

*Looks at "popular" AAA titles*
*Looks at the direction XIV is going*
Are you really that shocked? Now everyone can be a gamer~ :^)
There's a bit of audio feedback with NIN's Aeolian Edge if I remember correctly. The wind SFX sounds a bit more pronounced if you hit the back positional compared to anywhere else, but it's not much admittedly.
Running EX4 with Dragoon...it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to hit EVERY positional. The movements that are required during that fight, they should have just made the hitbox a large complete circle.
A MNK we ran with said the same thing.
A RPR in my static just gave up trying to hit them.
A SAM in PF just phoned it in.
EVERYONE with positionals for the new EX fight....just don't even care from the people I have ran with.
I have been a strong advocate saying they need to go for years. And raid fights being implemented are WAY more complex, faster, dynamic and strict arenas.
P4S - I don't see the RPR behind the boss during Pinax, or hitting positionals during curtain call. No they just keep dpsing. Maybe use true north if it's not on cooldown.
P3S - I never saw the MNK greeding during FOF or FOA...because if they did...we would more then likely wipe.
P2S - I can't even IMAGINE that fight with it's strict arena with positionals...and I don't even want to. Thankfully there aren't any positionals during that fight.
EX4 - During the Bullet Hell, Swords throws, Spreads, Proteans, Inums, Mario Karts, DPS line aoes, Playstation, Tank swaps moving the boss around all over the place, swapping clocks...FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF that......
Positionals be damned....I ain't doing them in EX 4....
I say get rid of them at this point...find some other way to integrate a melee playstyle that complements each class...
Positionals are dumb...more engaging encounters and mechanics are where the challenge is.
And for those people saying "Oh then you just wanna sit behind the boss??? Wow super fun fight...lame"...to that I say...in EX 4 you are doing ANYTHING but standing still in that fight. So what else?
The reason Xeno hates postionals is because it forces tanks to move the boss in a specific way, and with all the crap tanks have to monkey with last tier and this new tier....SHEESH. He strikes me as a person that says "I'm not moving...you move" It's annoying to turn a boss towards a particular melee so that ONE person can hit them effectively while the other just get's to pound sand while they hit true north during clock spots or force to peel off. I tanked this last p1-p4 tier and it's nearly impossible to get the boss in the right spot 100% of the time just so the melee can get a small increase to DPS, and it is VERY annoying when melee complain about it. Sometimes it is what it is...but we still clear.i personally quite enjoy positionals and it's the reason why i generally prefer melees over any other job. with that dynamic of positionals gone i find boss fights to be extremely dull but that's just my personal opinion. I understand positionals are a somewhat divisive subject.
With that said why are you listening to someone who basically has their whole persona centered on being a tank in regards to something that only affects melee DPS???
As a tank I agree with Xeno in saying they gotta go...because they are nothing but a annoyance to tanks to position the boss. And if the melee were good...they would move them selves anyway, but yet they still complain "Ugh move the boss so I can hit my positonals!" And I say to them "Then here...why don't I just shirk this tank buster to your dumb ass and you can move the boss where you want it! Just remember to tank swap because the debuff will kill you if you don't swap...oh and don't forget to mitigate with your 30% buff, but you have to use it 9 seconds BEFORE the tank buster comes or it won't be up in time for the next tank buster at the 4 min mark, OH and you have to pick up a tether off of the group and move it way or it's a wipe shortly after the tank swap!" "Hope you can hit all your positionals! OH...and don't die...you die we wipe"

This is a perfect summary.I would be less annoyed with them if every boss mechanic past ARR didn't already require you to run all over the place for 75% of the fight. For tank and spank fights where you're parked in place the entire time, positionals add a little challenge and activity to an otherwise dull fight. For most modern day bosses, however, they're just a sense of frustration.
Positionals are fine but modern boss design lends itself to there being phases and mechanics where positionals are impossible to hit without True North. There are also phases and mechanics that are so long in duration, a melee is forced to burn both stacks of True North. Then, a mechanic comes up again shortly after and you have no True North left. Take Barbariccia for example, when she sends you to your hair bundle, you're forced to True North because you're restricted to a quadrant for about 30 seconds. Then she randomly targets 4 people with Brutal Tackle dashes and will spin/change directions unexpectedly causing your to miss positionals frequently. I think they need to lower the recast on True North or make it grant 5 stacks of True North that only deplete when a positional WOULD have been missed. What I'm getting at is, there should not be any fight in the game where it's impossible to hit positional 100% with enough player skill.
EX4 shows that positionals are an outdated mechanic. My god you have to use true north almost the entire fight...
she turns around all the time it's impossible to hit all your positionals.
Whoever xenosis is, he sounds like a massive noob, probably wants monopoly with no money or Mario with no enemies
I wouldn’t mind if they were removed, but that’s my own personal opinion and I’m sure that others will disagree.
Potentially unpopular opinion, but True North also still perplexes me; seems like it just shouldn’t exist if they want to go hard on incentivizing positionals, and battles where the boss stays still the whole time also tend to not enforce any positional requirements to begin with.
