Wait, people don't use potions in current extreme and harder content? I thought melds, food and potions were a baseline expectation whenever seeing the enrage is a possibility. It could partly explain why some people consider extremes to be insurmountable obstacles.

Nobody does Extremes at minimum ilvl so potions are pretty much forgone. I don't check everyone's gear but I assume at least most have melds (however much that helps in Unreal) and generally most people have food. IDK if potions were needed for Titan/Shiva/Leviathan, but they definitely weren't for Ultima lol

In my opinion on the Chaos DC at least, people tend to be more relaxed about food/pot/meld in anything below the 3rd/4th Savage fights.

This is news to me as well, I thought food/pots/melds were pretty much standard.
Food always in any content extreme and above.
I tend to save pots when practising, but in any clear/farm parties, or if I think we're close to a clear I'll pot.

If you think the fight should be easily cleared, you're actually part of the problem. As you lack the patience required to progress a fight of this caliber with seven other randos. What is easy about this fight, is how easy it is to screw up, and how quickly that screw up can turn the tide of the fight into an unsalvageable one.

It's not cleared easily because the fight, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not, is difficult. It does not cleared at all because of player attitude.

I actually "practiced" 9 hours last week before I got the clear, helping and giving advice politely.
When I finally started getting picky with who I tried it with I cleared it twice in half an hour

It's wild that this content has been out for 6 years and apparently no one thought to even look up a guide and maybe practice when we got so much notice before release. The whole second phase rotation is written out ffs, so you know when to bait the pillars.

That is a fair question. (Yes, I did read your post.)

We most certainly do need more midcore and that is something I would argue for. Whether Criterion turns out to be that or not remains to be seen.

The problem I have with savage is not only in the mechanics and how stupidly easy it is to fail, but also how difficult it is to get any help with it. I know for a fact that these are far easier to do with call outs because I've been on voice to do BA with people and for the most part I have a pretty good handle on it. The difference being that the people who helped me through BA were willing to give me more help in terms of how to deal with mechanics and how to deal with failures, whereas statics were not at all helpful in that regard whereas they threw me out because they refused to deal with my anxiety and that some people were pissed that I was given two pieces of P1S gear to help me catch up since it was my first time clearing savage when it was new. PF lacks necessary things like callouts and the parties, even learning parties, tend to break up after three wipes. That's why they don't feel at all useful to me.

When I bring these issues up here, I find it rather mean-spirited that people, and mind you it's always the same people, who have to chime in and tell me that I need to "git gud" or that I just suck and the content should remain locked to me. It's gone even further as people used my parses to harass me with, to the point where I had to privatize my FFLogs. I have a very good memory, but the amount of mechanics and the extremely slim margin of error makes this feel more difficult than it needs to be. Many of the "tells" are very difficult to make out and it doesn't feel like Squeenix has done much to properly prepare people for Savage tier. This is why midcore is needed, after finishing the normal tiers of raids and trials, you are essentially thrown to the wolves and that is not a way to prepare someone for that level of difficulty. Especially when much of the difficulty feels fake since every mistake is pretty much a OHKO if not an out and out wipe.

So yeah, maybe what I need is a better way to ease in than to be entrusted to a random party that has 100% chance of failing or entrusted to a group of jerks who will kick me to curb if I don't rapidly meet their insanely high standards.

It's just what you've done, it's an observation) has had a tinge of... well... entitlement to it. I cleared my first savages with this group back when P1-P4s dropped (though we didn't clear P4s because we had... two very not good players who held us back for *months*), we prog every week, and we don't kick *just because you're bad*. We do savages on mondays, extremes on saturdays, and we have wonderful people who spend time every week to teach these fights to people like me (who are entering into their first or second tiers).
