    Melee Magic DPS

    This would be a wonderful new category. Here are my thoughts.

    You could add, as I have seen others suggest in the forums, totally new jobs like puppetmaster or something. Perhaps some sort of "Rune Knight" (or whatever you would call it) that was like Celes from FF6, or the Mystic Knight job from FFV.

    You could rework "scouting" as melee magic. Ninja is very magical to start with.

    I know this would not fly, but I would much prefer to see DRK as a melee magic dps, and reintroduce the HP-sacrificing damaging abilities that classic FF Dark Knights typically possess.

    Just a thought.

    I'd rather they make Blue mage into its FF11 equivalent with a bigger focus on the magic aspect instead of the melee aspect.

    It'd be nice, but I suspect anything that falls outside the current gear framework would be very unlikely. The problem being, currently no gear exists that would suit their stat needs. Sharing caster gear would leave them defensively weak, presumably undesirable for melee jobs, and there are no other gear options with a caster's main stat, STR being unlikely to "fit" for any magic DPS.

    Same reason why I wouldn't expect any magic-based tanks or physical healers.

    They can easily add a trait that increases their physical defense and max HP if survivability for them is an issue.

    They could, but personally I don't think this theoretical class should use caster gear because it wouldn't fit the aesthetic at all of a magic KNIGHT. Sorta like how I think Dancer should have been scouting gear, not aiming. Scouting gear makes much more sense for the idea of a free flowing dancer. AND they would use the same primary stat anyway. Oh well...

    Frankly restricting your design because of arbitrary pedantic adherence is stupid.

    Fuck it, make spells scale of STR. Who cares if the job is fun.

    Fuck it, just combine STR, DEX, INT, & WIS. They all serve the exact same purpose and you can't equip the wrong one anyway.

    Replace them with PWR (a generic "Power" stat) and just have all gear have the same four main stats: P.DEF, M.DEF, PWR, & VIT.

    I did hope we'd get mystic knight in EW since it would fit perfectly with Thavnair. That said, I don't think we need an entirely new classification. Just make it scale off STR or DEX (if it's scouting gear).

    There's really no point to add another category for that at this point of the game since the closest we have to that is Ninja/Scouting since it scales off of dex while still being magical. And even if they made DRK into that role they more than likely would not make it sacrifice hp to do anything, They removed all the "increase damage to self" from normal jobs and that would fall under it. MP is just the HP and there's not really a reason to change that.
