"Server Too Full" Error booting people mid-duty

It seems SE in their infinite wisdom have decided to start forcibly removing people from game for server being too congested. Except that its kicking people out while IN DUTY so not only does that person get booted with no warning but also the rest of the raid/dungeon runners suffer because they are down a man.

I am betting the island sanctuaries are running on the same instance servers as dungeons/trials/raids etc. I think I saw they were having problems with that the day of release.

And THIS is why Housing CANNOT be instanced.

Having an RP event or the massive Island Sanctuary demand will affect everyone, starting from FC members trying to enter their fc company/workshop, to raiders doing their prog and people on roulettes..

If anything it proves that they can give everyone their own instanced home. They've effectively given everyone access to their own personal instance that only gets loaded when they're in said instance, which is hardly different to if everyone had their own instanced house that was loaded up when they were in it.

The real issue is server overcrowding, which they're trying to get new server hardware added, and otherwise it's made worse right now because so many people are playing the patch content. Give it a week or two for things to start to calm down and the issue will solve itself.

Other MMO's use different engines. TESO lets you block a power swing from a 2-handed steel greatsword by holding a simple wooden bow up in front of it and the greatsword just bounces off...

Meanwhile, WoW - the most "popular" MMO of all time - doesn't even have housing.

Point simply being that different MMO's use different tools with different strengths and weaknesses. Just because one game "can" do something doesn't mean every other game must be able to do the same exact thing. I'm content with housing existing in its current form in FFXIV given everything else I really enjoy about the game.

You want to tweak that. "This is why SE won't pay to have instance housing." Because they would have to increase the amount of hardware. As proof of concept it seems to works. The only limitation seems to be hardware.



The question I have is would inside and outside load simultaneously. Removing the loading from entering the house. Maybe removing the restrictions from indoor and outdoor.



I strongly dislike the sub model and cash shop. But at this point if SE moved instanced housing to a tier of sub. It would let people pay for what they want.

Do you have a screenshot of error message that was displayed by any chance? It seems highly unlikely that only one player would be removed from a duty in progress due to "server full" but not the rest of the party.

Definitely players who are going AFK in solo instances are getting kicked but there's nothing unusual about that.

They seem to be hosted on the housing servers. I haven't heard anyone complain about not being able to enter a duty instance but a lot of players are having trouble entering housing and Island Sanctuary instances.
