Every time one of these threads comes up, I'm reminded that forum posters have a much higher proportion of warnings/bans than the full player base.

Eh usually if you get smacked on here it's for a good reason. In game you can use three emotes in a row in Limsa and get a warning for disrupting someone's gameplay.
