    New Pugilist

I've been trying to find some set in stone answers for my Pugilist and there's a few things I just want to clarify.

I just hit level 10 last night and I haven't allocated any points yet. A lot of other forums are saying STR/DEX/VIT, but 99% of those posts are from last year, or earlier.

Here I see STR/INT and I noticed that INT is pretty high naturally on my Pug. Soo with that said

STR/INT for my pug and rely off of gear for DEX/VIT?

And is Pugilist and Monk the same thing already, or do I need to lvl other jobs like I would for PLD and DRG? If so, what other jobs do I need to lvl to unlock MNK?

I'm just trying to figure this out now so I won't gimp myself in the future.

Thing is, as of patch 1.20, the modifiers for Pugilist damage are INT and STR.

Also, Monk, as with all of the other Jobs, requires one secondary class levelled to 15 (Lancer in this case). That is shown in the patch notes for 1.21

MNK is the job form of PGL, you need to be at least a 30 PGL and 15 LNC to unlock the MNK job quest line. as for stats STR and INT is the way to go all around, DEX and VIT will play little role in what you do as a MNK. So you will want to gear around STR first INT 2nd til you can hit the caps (roughly around 350 STR and ~310 INT using Ifrit's claws) then mix in ATT and ACC as needed. on MNK you will also have the use of two sub classes you can use abilities those being LNC and ARC, at the very least you need to have Blood for blood, Keen Flurry, and Invigorate from LNC and Quelling Strike from ARC. If you can you should level ARC to 42 as chameleon is one of the best cross class abilities you can use for MNK.

Putting points into STR and INT helps push your DD output which is what you will be doing in parties, so you should be putting a majority or all your points into those 2 stats. You could argue that some points of VIT will be useful as you will be in range of damaging AOEs so the small defense/hp boost could help a little. Definitely don't put points into DEX, as there are more than enough gear options that offer Accuracy and it no longer affects Evasion or Crit Rate.

MNK is tied to PGL so they have the same level, but you will need to get Lancer to 15 in order to unlock MNK itself. MNK can use Lancer and Archer abilities and it's worth spending some time in both, as Lancer gets some DD buffs and Archer gets Enmity and Accuracy altering moves.
