or try log in from another pc ?
I tried to format... still doesn't work, i've tried a lot of things and nothing worked out.
i'm getting the conclusion that's something about windows 11 (in my case).
i have plans to test this weekend to instal a virtual machine for that with windows 10 to make sure that it is the OS.
I'm from Brazil and i'm "glad" to know that is not just me lol. Because in big brazilian communities about ffxiv there was only 2 or 3 people that realley tried to help me.
if my tests with the virtual machine works... i'll be back here and share the results
Hello Adventures!
I have a solution that works for me. I had the same problem and it was time to investigate why I had a black screen whenever I tried to run FFXIV!
Brief specifications:
Steam
Windows 10
I had to go to:
Steam -> Settings-> Shader Pre-Caching -> "Enable Shader Pre-Caching"(turn off)
Regards

This worked! Thank you, sadly if this doesnt get resolved soon wont bother renewing subscription. weird how this worked.I did further tests.
It's not related to fw or network. (tried it via phone internet).
But it is related to the patch change:
The Steam overlay will now appear when loading the game via Steam.
After reading this, I tried various combinations.
I get the game running, when I enable steam overlay in steam (I prefer it off) and then select dx9 in the launcher and when I click play and the window opens, I directly open the steam overlay (ctrl+tab) .
Then I get the logo and game menu...
SE knows about this error? Because already past a month and looks like they even don't care about it... It's a paid game, they must been working on that, right?
Some errors seem to go months or years without acknowledgement, but not as severe as this one............
Not holding my breath, but would expect free game time for everyone impacted.
As a non-steam user I face this issue as well
1. launch the game
2. black screen
3. game crash no error message.
I've run a file check, and nothing is wrong. Takes 2-3 launches sometimes.
not sure why, if happens again ima check windows error reporter
EDIT::
here's what the error is for me
The program ffxiv_dx11.exe version 1.0.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.
