After playing around for a bit, I still love it, but I agree with you on the mechanics as well. I don't much like the whole switching modes nor do I like that I can't track materials needed for a craft.Just 1 day messing around with it and have basically done everything I can (gotta wait a real day or whatnot to progress).
The actual content/map/story/vibes are great, but the mechanics… I felt some jankiness.
Like the need for various “modes” could have been more contextual. As in, have the pet bar pop up with relevant skills when contextual things are going on (like interacting with livestock), or utilize existing jobs (botanist/miner) to collect materials. Or why the need to go into “watering mode” when I could just interact with the garden bed. Or the sow mode, when we have a perfectly good garden system from housing.
The gimmicks could all be the same, but it just feels like they could have utilized existing systems.
I guess they are trying to emulate the hot bar from animal crossing or stardew valley?
Some nitpicks, and minor ones… Otherwise, I am enjoying it.
"Everyone has something they hold dear, something they never want to lose. That's why they pretend. That's why they hide the truth. And that's why they lie."
After experiencing it, my rough plan is to do exactly as much as I need to do to acquire the cosmetics I want, and then never touch it again.
Its a pretty tedious slog with very little payoff. I don't see the point of the social features seeing as everyone's island is 100% identical except for maybe they put their workshop on the left instead of the right?
It's a personal safe space players can use for social interactions. The buildings, roads etc. have a glamour system so there is some customization present (likely gonna be sold on Mogstation). And of course, you can also show off your minions and named animals. Great space for roleplayers or players who just want to hide from evil randoms.
The main reason why the Party Finder is not working for the harder content and so many groups disband after few wipes is caused by the players who ignore the comments.
Getting to the phase XYZ once does not mean you are ready to join parties to do XYZ.
Parties should spend most of the time doing the phase that is written in the comment not trying to get there.
Boy, oh boy, is it tedious. Unless I'm missing something, it's ultra slow to rank up as you only get 10 XP per gather, or 20 XP if you catch an animal (with awful RNG to match). Ranking also doesn't award any of the currency needed to buy any of the cool new glam items.
In order to expand, you have to pay the sea tokens which are also used to buy the cool new items (including the hair). Each hairstyle costs 6,000, mounts are 12,000 each. To craft and sell items, you basically have to wait 4-6 real time hours for each craft to be done to net back like 39 of the sea tokens. Then, every little time you want to expand anything, the mammets demand you pay them 500-1,000. I also just found out that once you build your granaries, to even send them out on a gathering mission (think gathering retainer venture) you have to pay them 50 sea totems.
It honestly feels like it will take months of horribly boring slog to get one single hairstyle.
Please tell me I'm wrong and missing something.

Player : フェアリーのミラプリも作ってるんですか?
(Any plan on Fairies glamour?)
Yoshi'p Sampo: フェアリーはエギではないので、予定がないです。残念ながら。
(Since Fairies aren't Egi so, No.)
People talking about it being a quiet getaway and all I can think of are the mammets clearcutting forest with buzzsaws and the minions shouting at all hours of the day.
Also gotta admit I'm not a fan of them shoving a bunch of mammets inside the house.
I've got a topic up, cataloging the shiny hunt

It looks like once you advance enough you can have the mammets take care of things. Unsure just how completely.Yeah I dunno. I'm gonna hold judgement until I play a decent chunk of it but so far pretty underwhelming. I dunno how anyone can get a feeling of harvest moon from it, though. There's no crop planning aside from sticking seeds in predetermined plots and if I had to guess, I bet there won't be a sprinkler system installed for improved automation (Thus far it just seems you use crops to feed animals anyway). Like I adore harvest moon, rune factory, and stardew. This ain't it. But so far, I'm just gonna truck along. Maybe it'll surprise me later.
