    Something interesting I've noticed...

It's very weird the different vibe you get from the official forums and comments on gaming sites (like ign.com etc.) on FFXIV videos/articles and what not.

From what I read of these comments, they were all very similar. People who aren't playing this game at all currently were saying they will never ever re-subscribe to FFXIV even after 2.0 hits because they don't want to get screwed over again. Basically they're saying that when it first released, the first impression it gave was something that will never be forgotten. They were literally asking it to be killed off because it was a waste of resources to try and fix it and just have SE focus on FFXV.

And yet you look at these forums and it's exactly the opposite.

Has the majority spoken? Is FFXIV 2.0's fate already been decided even before it has released?

No, it's alot of ppl who want to betch just to betch. Its a forum after all.

Most of the ppl I know in xi who swore up and down they would never play xiv and it could go to hell are now all playing and barely log into xi. Its easy to say one thing, switch accounts and do another.

Depending on what they announce Im sure we will get those players back at least to try it and if they like it they wont be the ones to admit they betched about it. The only ppl who will do that are the ones who dont like 2.0 anyway and feel the need to scream about how right they were.

I agree with this. Most of my RL friends and ffxi friends said the same thing and now all of them are playing ffxiv and they really like it. I think its best to just wait till 2.0 and see what happens. I myself love ffxiv and the direction its going, and I have high hopes for 2.0.

Once it hits the PS3 it'll do well there's no doubt about it. People said the same shit about FFXI over and over, every year since NA launch in 2003:

    "I will never play XI."
    "XI is dying"
"No one will buy the PS2 version of FFXI (NA)"
"No EU players will stick with this game (EU PS2/Windows)"
"No 360 people will actually join and play (over 350k did, which was a lot considering it was the only MMO on it)"

So yeah, we go through this "No one will/I won't" phase in regards to even offline games when in reality, they're the first people to join an MMO/buy the game.

I am not worried tbh, currently we have enough playerbase to spread the words if V2.0 happens to be a big success.

I actually experience the opposite. I was on the SWTOR board at gamefaqs and people were mentioning how SE had the balls to say we screwed up and were going to fix this game and make it awesome, while the developers of SWTOR were all arrogant and acting like the SW title allowed them do to what ever they wanted. EA doesn't seem to be listening to their fan base at all and there are alot of issued that they are not addressing. At lease SE acknowledged they release a crap product but want to do something about it, I think that show alot of who they are.

Also as a side not I think the gaming industry as a whole has gotten rather lazy in game design and story telling too. They rehash the same stuff over and over again. The story telling has become somewhat formulatic and they don't seem to want to take alot of risk in doing something that blows people out of the water. I hope SE does something like that with the cataclysm leading into 2.0.

Very few movies, novels, or even musical performers are new. On a long enough timeline things will be repeated. In addition, if something breeds success it will repeated. Was there anything original about the Pirates of Caribbean movies? No. In fact, they were ripoffs of Monkey Island. But were they mostly enjoyable? Absolutely. The point is that it isn't the actual content but rather how well its done.

Dane Cook doesn't actually say anything funny - he just says it in a funny way...sometimes.

People like to bitch for the sake of bitching, for one, You might find someone that was raging about a certain game when it was released, and you still see him here bitching a year later, despite saying OMG I'M QUITTING and yet he still hasn't "quit" , though i only see a few of them now for this game

2.0 will succeed if we who are playing right now make it succeed. I think most gripes will be addressed and folks will still complain but it will be about not having their favorite class released yet. Which is normal lol. I believe past players will return but remain silent that they ever doubted. New players are joining everyday right now so I feel 2.0 will do just fine. Will it be the best mmo ever that remains to be seen however, I think it will be successful enough and last a long time.
