The issue of the sub price in Ukraine

People mix the two types of payment. Payment directly to SE and payment via Steam. If the first method uses a set of international currencies with a fixed price for a specific currency and all local currencies are converted into them, then the second allows regional prices by agreement with Steam. SE itself has never done regional pricing.

Therefore, talking about discounts for Ukraine in SE is meaningless. To do this, SE should reduce prices for all players in EUR or add Ukrainian currency along with a bunch of problems on converting and withdrawing it from Ukraine.

Indeed. And should they add Ukrainian Currency they'd open a whole new can of worms. Namely... Why won't they do this for everyone? Poland, Mexico, Brazil and numerous smaller countries who have exactly same problems with Sub costs rising due to weakening of local currency in comparison to the one that's supported.

Regional pricing is Steam sided. If I decide to buy FF for Ps or play it through the official client, I'll have to pay the non-regional price in EU/Dollars. (Except that I can't because Russian cards are now mainly blocked and we have to use pther ways to even pay for sub via steam, and pay even more than this glorified regional pricing)

So if you ppl want regional pricing you should turn your attention to the Steam and ask them, not SE, which never actually did regional pricing for their sub.

The problem with that is simply to where would it end? We in the western world have it pretty comfy compared to almost literally everyone else. Wars are happening everywhere almost. Square simply can't shouldn't and won't lower anything cause if they did now, then you can best bet someone will say " You did it for them!!" And BOOM. Like if they listened to OP what about the people on the other side of the war? Do they get a discount too? You see where the issue is? It simply can't be done. Plus out of all things to be worried about, FFXIV is the last thing you should be worried about when your nearby homes and streets are being bombed and shot at on the daily.

That was a point I made in my original post in this thread. Where they would draw the line is a legitimate concern. My main issue isn't with the OP's request, or the counter points others are providing describing the reasons this shouldn't happen. Again, there are 2 sides to this, and neither are necessarily wrong in some ways. It's the people being complete and total jerks about it that I have a problem with. lol The hostility I've seen in this thread isn't necessary.
