I doubt they would do anything except maybe stall housing on european servers.
Emerging and underdeveloped countries don't get discount even thought their sub is x5 the Dollar to their home countries.

This is the world we live in now however. People want everything handed to them with a sob story. It's awful what's happening in Ukraine but video games are a luxury item as others have stated. What about the wars and disasters in other countries? What about people from broken homes or low income? How should Square go about identifying each user and determine their current status or nationality? Proof of passport and place of residence to confirm you are indeed a citizen and you are harshly affected?
It is what it is. Auto demolition on the houses are enabled. Take a break from the game and get the important things sorted out before you start worrying about a video game.
Same in Finland. I paid 4cents for kwh and now it's 30 cents. Gasoline is/was most expensive in the EU for a long time. My car consumes 15liters / 100km. And I'm not earning that much, living in Finland after all. I'm not here complaining, just need to deal with itI can't compare to UK but it's pretty bad in many countries in Europe. France, Sweden, Denmark etc.
My wallet cries when I have to fill up my car, and I made the poor decision to get a diesel-fueled CUV in 2020 when it was pretty cheap and low running cost. Now with the taxes and oil prices that we pay in Sweden, it's 0.5 EUR more expensive per liter compared to gasoline.
Thank god my lease ends next years so I can get a EV, but then again - the electricity prices is pretty f***d too.![]()
For SE it would technically be a bad thing yes. SE can't change the value of different currencies and by adjusting their pricing model to fit a currency that doesn't have a lot of value globally they'd be losing a lot of money. So there isn't a whole lot of difference in what's being asked here.I am not sure where all the vitriol is even coming from - I went back and reread his post. He is NOT asking for free subs, or discounts. It sounds more like he is asking Square to look into the way regional pricing for subscriptions is done. Why would this be a bad thing? Would this not benefit many places, not just the Ukraine? Wouldn't it benefit places like South America if Square looked into it? It also might benefit Square itself in the form of yet more subscriptions? Just some thoughts.
so, I have to admit to a bit of confusion. I am Canadian so just looking at it in my currency. I pay around 15.50 a month I think (not exactly sure and I get 6 months at a time)
the price per month went from 260 UAH, which is $9.18 Canadian, so seems like a screaming deal since I pay just under twice that.
it has gone up to the exorbitant price of 440 UAH, which at current exchange is 15.54, which is about what I pay.
does that mean that for the last number of years Canadian, and I assume US citizens as well, should be demanding a price break since other countries pay less?
the Ukraine is in a sucky and terrible situation. but really, there's a war going on, a video game is not essential. if there are bombs, rockets going overhead and I could be shot... playing FFXIV is not going to be on my mind.
let's be honest here.
Most people don't care.
and most people who say they care, care about as much as their slacktivism let them get away with it
Hello there.
Damn that’s a high consumption
Just to be clear. The issue I take with this sort of topic is that it looks at the very broad issue through a very narrow group while basically cherry picking who to help. And in this case the war on Ukraine affects way more than just Ukraine. And countries like mine are in only slightly better situation than OPs with prices constantly going up, national currency being weaker than on average (thus effectively increasing the sub costs).
Yes maybe SE should consider looking closer at the regional pricing. But that would need to go for every single country and not just one in an empty gesture to earn some PR.
