Your addition to your edited statement makes it sound like those that got a free house didn't participate in the lottery, when in fact, that's exactly what they did was 'participate'. Then they had to wait, like a month and a half?

I don’t mind the exclusive item but to say the people who got a house for free (we got a big fc house for free and we were pretty happy) deserve something more is strange when many can’t even get a house because the supply isn’t there. Maybe it’s the latter that deserve a little something.

It is really not that simple.

This game already has an actual physical cap on its pool of available resources; it's not a game built in the cloud where it can dynamically scale resources on-demand. (And not only is it hard to retroactively turn a server architecture like that into a virtualized cloud one, but Lumberyard-based games like Star Citizen and New World demonstrate that having an entirely virtualized server environment can introduce its own new and different problems.)

As it is, with the housing we do have, they have allocated more housing than there are actually servers available to run simultaneously; we saw this during the Endwalker launch, where if enough people were inside their houses the servers could not allocate a new housing interior instance, and if you tried you'd get an error message and be prohibited from entering your house. Even if you had instanced housing (e.g., no need to run housing wards), you'd still have that limitation... and if literally everyone could have a house on demand, you're way more likely to run into that issue.

I will be shocked if it's not possible to overload the Island Sanctuary servers in a similar way, though I'd also expect they've done as much as they can to obscure/hide/avoid that limitation.

You can get around this with things like inn rooms and your Grand Company barracks... but those are handled nearly entirely on the client side; you don't need to allocate any instance on the server, because no one else can come into your inn room or barracks. Housing, by definition, is a thing people want to have others come and visit... even potentially if they're not home/online. Which means it does need actual shared, joinable instances on the server side.

They didnt get their houses for weeks, so they get a little something, is this really that big of an issue that its only available for them ?

I was affected by the bug and didn't win. The way it's worded I don't get the posters either because I don't have anything to really return. That's pretty crappy since there were others affected by the bug who also had their gil in limbo. :/

More seriously though makes sense to me not to like exclusive stuff, things I have I don't like it, things I have no intention of having- I don't like it, things I want- I especially don't like it. (Timed exclusives don't bother me though..).


Of course that said we don't know how the system will be in the first place, could be like Shibi suggests and it already is an open to public system (because they said they couldn't track the issues in the first place, so how would they now?).

And what the hell does this matter? Once you use a housing item, you can't do anything else with it except destroy it. You can't resell it; you can't trade it. My God, it makes me want to get several of them, then invite you over while I take them off the wall and click them off of my backpack. Then go buy more and do it again.

They are crying about three little pictures in the 6.2 Patch Notes about the housing NPC that players can voluntarily pay the money that wasn't collected by those who got a free house because of the lottery foolery. They appear to be housing decor.

Three little pictures. Three. Like it's the most valuable thing in game.

Exclusive items annoy me, especially since they're exclusive for no reason.

There has been exclusive items in the game for years and there will be more in the future I recommend not being a collector in MMO's because there is always something you cannot get

Item exclusivity is fine, not everyone needs every item. It's not a single player RPG, you don't get everything.
There are players SE really did dirty and this seems like a nice way to say they're sorry. Taking other peoples apologies for yourself is not very classy.
