Yea, if people are tired of seeing post like this just view his profile and "add to ignore list" lol.. Cause ya... this idea is just plain dumb lol.
Is it just me with my pitchfork and torch ready?
Wouldn't it be hilarious if SE thought "hmm good idea /delete Sephrick" done.
Dont wipe out the dodos please.![]()
Why must people write threads with such troll in them and pretend it's legit?
It's foolproof!
Let's dissect your idiotic opinion, placing the notion (the correct notion) of your troll to the side.So we all know what's rolling down the pipeline. Patch 1.23 will usher in the beginnings of some cataclysmic event that will pave the way for 2.0's map changes.
Though this plan also brings up one of the biggest immersion-breaking features of gaming history: the deflation of suspense by the knowledge that -- no matter what happens -- our character will survive.
What are the real world chances of survival?
That's why I propose a 50% wipe. SE randomly selects 50% of the current population and deletes those characters as victims of the 2.0 cataclysm. SE can honor the fallen of each world with graveyard with tombstones for each person from that world.
Pros:
- Immersion boost. The story will matter more if it may be the end for your character.
- All those people releveling will mean there's more potential fellow teammates for new players.
- Gil sink. Think of all the Gil that will suddenly be out of circulation!
- Potential elimination of RMT, botters and exploiters. I'm not saying SE should "target" anyone, but SE can't help it where the magic spaceship happens to fall.
- Population redistribution. With half the current player base plus new players starting fresh, it's the best way to move people out of Ul'dah in a natural way.
- Economic restructuring. There will be a greater demand for mid level gear and fewer people competing to sell it meaning an actual product-based economy can form.
- The gift of challenge! Logging on after the 2.0 servers go online will be like Chistmas morning. Those lucky player not only get a unique one-time tombstone but also get to experience the challenge of leveling all over again in 2.0's slower pace. Also, they receive the additional boon of experiencing the new storyline as it was meant to be. Think of how boring it will be for those who can just blow through it with capped characters.
Cons:
- A few whiners might QQ over SE giving them a chance to experience the journey from start to endgame again. After all, MMOs are all about the journey and not about the end whatsoever.
It's obvious that nothing but good can come from this. Let's let SE know we want to ride the immersion train to 2.0!!!
Sure.So we all know what's rolling down the pipeline. Patch 1.23 will usher in the beginnings of some cataclysmic event that will pave the way for 2.0's map changes.
How is this immersion breaking? Wouldn't losing everything you've worked hard for be immersion breaking? The fact that you can get ahead of the game by playing 2.0 is the reason people even play a game that went from pathetic to okay and hopefully become something great.Though this plan also brings up one of the biggest immersion-breaking features of gaming history: the deflation of suspense by the knowledge that -- no matter what happens -- our character will survive.
Survival? This is a FF MMORPG, not DayZ.What are the real world chances of survival?
And lose 50% of the population? What is the chance that any of those people would stay? Assuming they all have a bit of time and money into the game it is probably close to 0.That's why I propose a 50% wipe. SE randomly selects 50% of the current population and deletes those characters as victims of the 2.0 cataclysm. SE can honor the fallen of each world with graveyard with tombstones for each person from that world.
You need a grasp on immersion before you can start throwing it around. Even using it points out that you're an obvious troll.Pros:
- Immersion boost. The story will matter more if it may be the end for your character.
Yes, at the loss of other teammates...you know, because they won't be there...because they left to go to a game that didn't screw them.- All those people releveling will mean there's more potential fellow teammates for new players.
Finding it hard to make money?- Gil sink. Think of all the Gil that will suddenly be out of circulation!
So you're saying SE shouldn't target RMTs? Instead they should target 50% of the population and hope that no one gets screwed over?- Potential elimination of RMT, botters and exploiters. I'm not saying SE should "target" anyone, but SE can't help it where the magic spaceship happens to fall.
Ul'dah is a natural main city, it is the least confusing out of all the cities; easiest for most people to get around. Also, you are assuming the 50% would be coming back...when they won't be.- Population redistribution. With half the current player base plus new players starting fresh, it's the best way to move people out of Ul'dah in a natural way.
The demand for gear will already be there with the new player base, so all they'd be creating is a diminished demand for high level gear.- Economic restructuring. There will be a greater demand for mid level gear and fewer people competing to sell it meaning an actual product-based economy can form.
Wow, really starting to piss me off with all this obvious trollness.- The gift of challenge!
Ahh, and then the release, this is where the OP admits he is a troll, maybe looking to get his thread on the top thread list? Are people going to give him the satisfaction? Probably.Cons:
- A few whiners might QQ over SE giving them a chance to experience the journey from start to endgame again. After all, MMOs are all about the journey and not about the end whatsoever.
It's obvious that nothing but good can come from this. Let's let SE know we want to ride the immersion train to 2.0!!!
Not sure if troll or not...
Just in case it was actually the OP's opinion:
I can assure you that most paying costumers would leave and never come back after getting the characters deleted they worked on for 2 years, me included.
I plan to make an additional new character when 2.0 hits to experience the story from the start anyways and I know plenty of other people who plan on doing the same, so more than enough people for new players to play with.
