se seem to be longstanding issues that have been used to excuse why we can’t have instanced housing or the glamour dresser being in the state it’s in, so fix them

That money can easily come from projects that FFXIV itself has likely funded like Forspoken and the Avengers games.

Oh yes, speaking of hardware, you DO know that even though most of the pandemic is more or less over, the backlog on hardware, semiconductors, servers, other infrastructure equipment is still in close to three years behind?

Manufacturing companies, facilities are still ramping up, the slam stop COVID created will take YEARS to get back to pre COVID stockpiles? That staff are STILL at a premium, as a lot of the staff they laid off have moved into other industries, other companies, retired, died?

Production came to a screeching halt, getting back up to anywhere near normal wont be until at least 2025. Losing their experienced, trained staff has crippled some companies, and they are still scrambling to recover.

Thats NINETY THOUSAND skilled manufacturing personnel they still need, not to mention the skillsets and training needed to even begin to approach norms.

Getting a HUGE supply chain system like server hardware, semiconductors back to where it was pre 2019 is akin to getting behind a 400,000 tonne freighter and pushing it with a single tractor. COVID has wrecked that industry, so what you think can be easily done?

Is dependent on industries that havent reached pre 2019 levels and wont for YEARS. Deloitte says 2023...thats an optimistic projection, my money says halfway into 2024..or 2025 if the economic situation craters.

So no, it cant be fixed 'easily"..NOTHING is that simple.

Because this is what this is all about, claiming that you have the moral high ground by being objective, but in the same breath you make completely baseless claims with only the same kind of anecdotal evidence the other side uses. (and having no idea how much of an hypocrite this makes you)
Why does all discussion here have to devolve into this? Just endless petty wars over whichever sides gets the more votes instead of trying to argue if the idea itself has any merits?

He has none in reality. He uses a bunch of sites that are themselves not reflective of the broader playerbase and littered with their own issues in that respect, and then pretends they serve as proof of some grand majority, when in actual fact they are at best anecdotal and all suffer from the same issues as the OF (when are YT vid comments on 14 not positive? especially on content intended for fanboying it?), if not worse, plus depending on which subreddit you now look at (but really at this point, both main sub and 14 Discussion), there is growing division over EW. He has nothing along the lines of properly validated polling. It's almost like he's reading off a script given how he uses the same wording each time, like the frankly ludicrous characterisation of Reddit as a "cesspool of negativity" - 14 mainsub in fact represents the opposite extreme, and this has been the case before EW.

Essentially he is just here to try shame others for making claims he dislikes, insisting you have to add an "IMO" to everything, but when it concerns his own posts, it's just "facts", so no need for such pesky things... even though he has nothing but fallacious reasoning to offer in support of it. I'd weigh his posts accordingly. It's like a puffer fish in catboy form.

See, but that'd be Square Enix paying for it, when they could just take the L and keep all the money instead, which has been working for them for 4 expansions now. Since you're so confident, go into Square's next shareholder meeting, and explain to them why fixing all these code problems in their foundation is worth losing a titanic amount of profits from freezing content development for well over a year. Make sure to take a stopwatch, so you can time how long it takes before they all burst out laughing at you before pointing at a graph showing FF14's profits and userbase increasing expansion over expansion, despite these minor 'issues'.

Also, if you truly believe the infinitely vast majority of the fanbase would be fine with such a move, I have a bridge to sell to ya.

My honest guesstimate says 12 months to get back to production norms, clearing the backlog so supply meets demand? IMO maybe 18 months..hopefully less, which puts us in early 2024.

1.) Numerous actual polls on various social media and by SE garnering immensely more votes than the people we see on these forums. It was hilarious watching the absolute "shock" of certain people a few weeks ago on here when it was revealed the Scions are actually very popular. 2.) Practically every other site on the internet. Check around YT and look up videos on practically anything about EW - the story, the soundtrack, etc.. Here, you'll see the same dozen or so names popping up over and over again complaining. There, you'll see hundreds of _different_ people overwhelmingly praising the game. Or heck, even Reddit - usually a cesspool of negativity - is far and away very positive about the game and EW in particular. And once again, the unique voices you'll see there dwarf anything you see here.

The "side that gets more votes" matters when something is lopsided, because it would be a horrible business decision to risk alienating the large majority of your playerbase just to satisfy the never-satisfied whims of a small group of people posting 24/7 on the forums.

Understandable but however they are not official. the best way for se to get data is actual doing a survey to the player base.
